First off, I don't have enough room for a CRT monitor and I have been gaming on crappy LCD's for about 6 years and I am used to them. I'm currently about to upgrade my system and get a new monitor as well. The monitor that I may get and/or may come with the system I am going to get is a 20" Dell UltraSharp 2001FP. I've been reading reviews on several different sites, and all I seem to get is mixed reviews. One person says that it's amazing for gaming and gives it a 10/10, and then the next person says it's terrible and gives it a 2/10. I really don't know anything about anything and I'm wanting some opinions on this specific monitor and maybe some other suggestions as well. Thanks in advance.

I hear that you want a LCD that has 8ms and less bc is better for gaming. I myself have a SAMSUNG syncmaster 740N LCD. IT doesnt go up to 100 hz.. but i use 75hz (max). It doesnt bother me at all with ingame fps to 75 and shutting off netgraph doesnt really bother me. THe monitor contrast / brightness works really well and its nice and small ^^

The higher-res you go on an LCD, the more you have to interpolate pixels at lower resolutions, like those you'd use for CS. Just make sure you don't go with anything above 21", and check and see if the response time is below 8ms (although some companies report their response times differently, gray to gray instead of black to white).

It doesn't matter what refresh rate you use on an LCD. All that really matters is the response time. Lower is better.
