every computer needs some sort of protection againt viruses/trojans/and other malicious items.

right now im using norton internet security, its pretty cool

its basically a subscription service per year, but it has a great autoupdater! it also has a firewall, and anti intrusion system.

Norton is generally bloated. I wont use it anymore.

TBH on vista I use next to nothing. Just the stock firewall, though I did install NOD32 recently, mainly for email protection.

Being smart online, your browsing choices, things you run, downloaded, etc, is the real answer to computer security.

just norton internet security. i dont really get many viruses, and i dont use email enough to open things from people i dont know. #5 i believe that, but ive never been one to change my firewalls or security

Norton is crap. It takes up way too much RAM, way too much hard drive space, and doesn't even work well. Off the top of my head I can name at least 3 free ones that offer much better detection. Both with "auto-updaters". A software firewall also isn't going to do much for you. Most routers can provide about as much security functionality as you're going to get on Windows, if you configure them properly and keep the firmware and your OS updated.

80% of it is about not being stupid in your online choices, as Slapnuts touched on.

rofl, i only use etrust pestpatrol. u really need no to worry about spywares/adawares and all that crap if you know what youre looking at ^^

Use BitDefender 9 .... best program i ever had... no problem playing games no laging with program and program clean everything u got on pc .... virus trojans etc ...

omg zonealarm is horrible, you have to unblock every freaking program that you run
