Antialiasing Setting - off
Anisotropic Filtering - off

Anti-aliasing 4x do not check TEMPORAL ANTI-ALIASING
Anisotropic Filtering 16x and i checked High Quality AF
try those maybe it helps
=]

I went into the dxdiag and did the test direct3d and I passed direct3d 7 and 9 but didn't pass direct3d 8. It says Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code). When It was on the direct3d 8 it showed the box spinning a little but I couldn't see it and it was dark like tinted and you can see it spin but barely. Like there was no power. But all the other tests I passed and it was bright.

I reinstalled the drivers and I still got the same problem. So I reformatted it and I still get fps drops. Like around 50-100fps.

I don't understand why people don't get 100fps but apparently it is an issue and I'll try and help here. Now regardless of MonitorHZ and crosshair sizes and anything else ridiculous that may or may not be said .... I have a Nforce3 Motherboard, which is relatively old on a single-core AMD Athlon64 4000+ (89$ @ newegg, hehe) with a PNY Geforce 6800GT and I don't think I've ever seen my fps drop, after any update ever. Only time it will drop is if I'm winraring or doing something very cpu intensive. Now first and foremost, I'd definately reccommend a spyware sweep, and a check of things running at system startup (start > run > msconfig) Things that commonly run that most people don't know about are like REALplayer, Quicktime, and other random things that are rarely used, let alone needed. Another thing I've done is eliminate unnecessary services from starting and or running in windows. To edit services, go to (start > run > services.msc) keeping in mind you need XP PRO for this to work. Home users are out of luck from what I know. A guide to know what services do and how they affect you is @ http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guid.. . Ok, powersupplies..I do have a 550 watt power supply, but before this supply I was on a 400, or maybee 420 and noticed no issues there either. What I reccommend seing as I'm part of a community that puts out enhanced video card drivers (primarilly nVidia, sry ATi people) is make sure you're chipset drivers are in order. Chipset = Motherboard incase anyone is lost, and can usually be found at their respective websites. I've never seen any real performance gains from editing or updating or flashing my BiOS so I won't even touch that subject. The proper way to uninstall/reinstall nVidia drivers is here -> http://www.tweaksrus.com/forums/index.php.. and you do not need to be a member of our community to read this post. If the steps are followed here then there should theorhetically never be a problem. We also reccommend using the program Driver Cleaner once in safe mode in one of the steps. Now Driver Cleaner has now become a pay-to-use program, but we all still use the free one because it has the same effectiveness. Finding it however would be a pain in the ass, so I took the liberty of finding it for you guys. The link to the program is here -> http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?.. ... Now for you vista users trying to use driver cleaner you might run into a problem, so read this post before attempting to use driver cleaner -> http://www.driverheaven.net/driver-cleane.. .. If all else fails with those options, I do reccommend a chkdsk in windows and a defragmentation at minimum once every month or so if you watch movies and play games. If anyone decides they want to try the tweaksrus.com drivers, you'll find hundreds of posts about what drivers work for what range of cards and what drivers don't work for certain games and so forth. I rarely check this site but I figured I could be of help possibly, so yes, I wrote this amazingly long bible of a post to try to help people :) If you need me im @ #reality

when set to "high quality"

anisotropic filter = 4x (+/-)
antialiasing filter =4x (+/-)

set image quality to performance or high performance (absolutely sure fps +100)

Did you plug your psu in your grahpiccard, so the graphiccard gets power?
My comp freezed anytime i started a dx9 game before i did that.

Yeah, I tried the image setting performance & high performance and I still get the fps drops. Yes, I plugged the psu to my vcard and it gets power. Im just wondering why im not getting 100 fps constant when I should.

#59 is right...

a lot of people install useless stuff and have programs running "in the background." i don't think this is totally true, BUT i do think p2p programs mess up the performance of a pc (correct me if i'm wrong but that's why i have my school laptop for) so my desktop is free of any p2p programs... only drivers, and games. spyware cleaning is good... also ccleaner to clean your registry and clean unnecessary files. don't forget also to defrag ur drive... clean the dust off ur computer parts to lower heat, and if all that don't work, upgrade power supply and a mobo with a chipset more compatible with ur vid card

enjoy

#67 what do you mean when you say a mobo with a chipset more compatible? chipset? i have a intel ati chipset?

you look at various chipsets, like intel, via, sis, nvidia, etc and u do your research and see which one will match your video card the best...

1) Bad power supply
2) Bad power surge protector, I bet you don't have 1 with a battery to ensure a consistent power flow.

Those are probably the 2 things wrong. A 400 watt power supply ... you probably have the lowest wattage possible with your setup.

well I tested my comp with another psu...the ultra xvs 500watt 12v28@ and it still gives me fps drops...does that mean it can be my chipset? because I have an intel ati chipset and I have a nvidia video card.

1. use only 1 gig of ram so you can stay in dual channel mode (2x512 > 3x512)
2. clean your viruses and crap, make sure you're not running anything in the background.
3. safe mode + drivercleaner pro your graphics card in the face. then reinstall the drivers.
4. make sure all of your drivers are up to date.

since cs is a billion years old, it's going to be cpu limited fps wise. so i'm pretty sure something is hogging cpu cycles.

Here's a foolproof plan of what I would do at this point, you can stop following these steps when your problem is solved:

1) Run good spyware tools to eliminate any viruses.

2) Update drivers

3) Monitor temperature levels of video card; if at high levels do the following:

a) Check cable management; clear airflow passages if possible.
b) Check fan airflow. Front fan blows air in, back fan blows air out.
c) If card is still hot, install more fans.

4) Uninstall unneeded CPU intensive programs that you may have installed.

5) Take your computer apart and rebuild it, that's the only way you're going to know if something is hooked in wrong.

6) Reformat.

Maybe someone else can think of something else, I typed this rather fast and may of missed a step.

Just get a new PSU already thats the most obvious problem. It's either that or overheating. There should be no problem getting 100 fps with a 7900 GS. Unless you forgot to plug in the PCI-E power cord.

#71 that's the problem... intel ati chipset doesn't go with nvidia at all, so of course you're gonna get fps drops...

you have two choices:
change mobo
change vid card

amd got 3dnow, enhanced 3dnow, L1 cache in central proc. way bigger than intel.
thats why....
try uninstal driver before installing new...
your mobo is bad udjusted in BIOS setup, reg cleaner is imortant to keep your reg clean and structuraly fixed. spyware (BOT) :), virus prot., firewall,........

It is your processor. The Intel Pentium D 805 2.66 are very bad, and can't even outrun a 3.4 prescott(which I have now) I should know because I had that before and had the same problem. I advise you to get a P4 3.4 Prescott or go c2d if you have money.
