There have been a number of reports where several gamers' MX-518 mice stopped functioning after a few months of use.[citation needed] Common symptoms were the mice constantly froze, and the mouse's USB device appeared to unplug itself from the PC according to the device manager. Logitech responded to these complaints by releasing an updated version of the mouse, with an entirely "NEW SENSOR ENGINE"
#11 that's pretty on-point, actually. I had 2 of them do that. Dunno if that's why they changed the DPI settings though.
Yes, they're now 1800 instead of 1600. I know because I have the box from my old one, which says 1600 dpi on it, and the one I just got to replace it(it died and was replaced for free) said 1800 dpi. :)
can anyone confirm whether its the same agilent 1800 dpi sensor used in the deathadder. im assuming it is simply because logitech has always gone with agilent.
can anyone actually verify that the new mx518 uses the same sensor as the deathadder, i would try to do it myself however im on vacation in vienna and im doing hella good in poker. im pretty sure it is just want a solid confirmation.
#19 in ESreality they said it didn't change the maximum response rate, therefore I think that is the reason Logitech didn't overclock it and you would want a stable response rate not jumpy. "Overclocking the USB port had no effect on the maximum response rate."
22-theres this thing called logic. the original 1600 dpi mx518 didnt get any performance increase out of overclocking the polling rate. the new 1800 dpi mx518 should be able to get a performance increase considering it uses the same sensor as the deathadder, which is what im still trying to figure out. someone please confirm this.
im pretty sure its not the exact same sensor. they probably just made it 1800dpi to impress ppl. some ppl believe the DA is superior simply because it has 1800dpi.

What a pointless update.

mx518 = optical.
however, new mx518 runs @ 125 hz @usb
