CM Stacker 830 "Evo" Nvidia Edition (Receiving Tomorrow) Asus Striker II Formula 780i or EVGA 780i (Getting sometime next week) Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 or better 2x 9800GTX's in SLI or TRI SLI ($1400 already put aside)
you have some obsession with wasting money dont you. the comp you have is more then enough. and youve reposted the same build like 3 times so stop bragging
to me it's a waste of money but mhill's an enthusiast so it's up to him. it'll be interesting though. the 780i's arent that great of overclockers (so i read in reviews), but i guess you'll just have to wait it out for BIOS updates. you gonna water cool this one or keep your air cooling?
There is no set date yet, contrary to popular belief. It is still "quarter 1" for the intel chips. I was even talking to a higher up at Intel about this at CES.
slap, not to mention the small fact that the 'release dates' displayed on scan for the 45nm dual cores (e8200/e8400/e8500) are displayed as either the 30th of jan or 'awaiting ETA of manufacturer'. they were released as a group launch more then a week ago...
I think tri sli is a little stupid, sli is stupid if the sli cards its the top of graphic cards. Think that its better one high end graphic card than 2 high cards. Nice Pc!
#21 Personally i feel SLI is only worth it at the higher end, although that's my opinion.
#22 The last time i went water i had a malfunctioning waterblock that caused a leak 2 days in after tedious testing...Which resulted in a damaged GPU...thankfully i only had to RMA one GTX. Suffice to say, i personally feel watercooling isn't worth the hassle after that episiode so you won't see me going down that road again lol
Finally should be able to show some pics on Monday as i'll be recieving the following to keep with the Nvidia branding:-
Zalman 9700NT (Nvidia Version) <---------- temporary until i go 45nm. Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Silver Multi Fan Controller 6x 120mm CM Green LED fans
What water block did you use for the water cooling, and what exactly went wrong with it? I'm willing to bet it was either a subpar block, you didn't properly leak test, or you overtightened the barb on the block. I mean, unless the block used acrylic and ended up cracking or such, blocks don't generally suddenly fail.
It was only that Swiftech H20-120 Kit, nothing decent really....
For the record i leaked tested for 6 Hours with no h/w and a further 12 hours with h/w in case without problems. This particular kit has been an issue for many ppl....
Mention the word kit (except for the select swiftech/petrashop) on any forums dedicated to water cooling enthusiasts and you'll get a bunch of sighs in return, heh. Those kits not only consist of bad parts that will break/fail, but the cooling potential isn't that much over higher end air coolers.
If you ever get into the mood to water cool your system again, which will allow you to oc everything well beyond what's capable on air let alone a hell of a lot quieter to even near silent dependent on what you include in your loop, let me know. I'll help you build a custom setup that won't make you worry about failing like the kit did for you :p
i have my e8400 waiting for its P182. gotta love mhill for being on top of getting new hardware tho. hate to see SLI 88GTX's be thrown out like that though.
My New Case

the 45nm 9550, which I am waiting for too, wont be till feb, or march at the latest.
Have a look at the ETA
You are looking at some retailers product page and making estimates from that? Even you should know better than that.

One says nothing, one says feb 18th...
see, you cant really trust retailers and their dates.
There is no set date publicly announced yet.
I'm surprised you went for the nVidia edition, any particular reason? I just remember more green than I'd like :P
