i have just finished building my pc and took my 9700nt out of my older computer to put into this build and oced it to 3.0ghz but the temps are way too high for some reason. idle = 45c. can anyone recommend me another third party cpu cooler that is great for oc (3.6ghz +) 30$-65$ before tax, i dont care how loud the fan sound is on it, and this cooler should be able to have decent/good temps for idle and load at 3.6ghz +

um im not sure there is a good enough air cooler for that high of an OC. I would think about water cooling imo.

i just 5mins ago reapplied the thermal paste (zalman ztg something) to the cpu only with a thin and evenly amount. im gonna let it run stock for 4 hours before i run 3.0ghz and see the temps.

idle 41-42c

load 46/47. 48 very rare

3.0ghz e6600 with vcore set on normal = 1.35v

you think my comp temps good? to me i dont like 45c + cause i keep thinking thats the starting bad temp.

when you took the hsf off the other computer, did you clean it off first before you installed it on the new cpu?

You should get either the Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro or the Tuniq Tower 120.

well first you need to clean off the old thermal adhesive, with at least 60% isopropyl alcohol. 90% or higher is great. and some companies even make thermal adhesive removal d=P. next get some Arctic Silver 5 thermal adhesive, and then buy a ARCTICCOOLING Freezer 7 Pro. then you should be good. also what are you using to check your temps?

coretemp = 40/41 idle
coretemp = 44 min/ 45,46 avg/ 47 highest
system = 30c stated by easytune5 pro
easytune 5 pro = the idle is usually 28 so i take this as bullshit

currently 3.2ghz

#12 If those temps are actually correct then you are getting great temps normally 55c + is a little warm. But the temps you are getting are fine but try to google core temp because they are normally the most accurate.

The only temp that is dangerous is if it surpasses it's thermal capacity

For example a q6600 past 62 c is a little bad but it wont break it just will lower its lifespan from say 6 years to 4 or whatever it is depending on the temps.

those temps are fine, why do you keep talking about watercooling #8?

#15 because he mentioned cranking his cpu speed to 3.6 ghz+. His temps at 3.2 ghz are good but another 400mhz and possible increase in voltage would produce more heat, and possibly reach the limit to where you would start to think about getting watercooling.

meh I guess, but you could probably hit 3.6 on one of the best air HSFs.

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?ite..

Get the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX if you want the best. Thats a pretty big review above (120 pages), but it isn't that new, so a few new ones are in there. However, your zalman 9700 is pretty close to the top.

Those temps are perfectly fine. Only start to worry when you're temps exceed 65C.
