I'm upgrading my old athlon system. What I have fixed until now is: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2 Gb Ram
I'll probably pick an Asus mobo (no idea which though... Very difficult to get a mobo of choice here)
The major question I have is what graphic card to pick. My budget for the graphic card is about 200$. Will be buying that over in the US and get a relative to bring it here.
I'm currently split between the 8800GT, 9600GT and the 3870. What do you people think is the best buy at sub 200$ prices (preferably sub 180$... operating on a small budget here). And what brand of card should I get (as in asus/xfx/sapphire etc)
Many thanks

with the price on a lot of 8800 512 GTs at 200$ the price per performance far outweighs the 9600 GT. Prior that was the only reason to even consider a 9600 but now that the price is much closer the 8800 wins hands down.
divide the difference in price by how many days/hours per week you game, and you will easily see its worth upgrading to 8800 gt. 9600 is basically a turbo 7600!
#16 yet it doesn't have much of an effect on benchmarks. If the 9600GT is considerably cheaper then it's worth going for it. I got it for a good price, don't care that it's slower than the 8800GT.

If you find a cheaper 8800GT, make sure it is 512MB. The 256MB versions aren't worth it.
I have a 9600GT, it does well. It was a bit cheaper than a 8800GT - a price I couldn't justify paying. The 8800GT is better though, but not by much.
