Here is my $1,300 Newegg.com build which is still up for minor or major revision with suggestion/price changes looking to be purchased in June of this year. Main game is Counter-Strike:Source played at 1024x768.
**Note**I'm updating my monitor because I have one from 2003 when 25ms was top of the line.
The original idea was to spend $1,500, but from the knowledge I've gathered this PC seems fit for the job. Without having to buy a new monitor I would be able to push this system a heck of a lot farther as some may already be getting ready to type up a storm on.
Would it be worth it to spend the extra cash just to play source? Express your opinion's.
for source, i'd say that's probably a bit overkill. but then again if you've got the money you may as well spend it, especially if you want to play other, new games.
the monitor decision is up to you. you could always get a cheaper one if you're not that bothered.
if you wanna save some more money, get an 8800GT instead of GTS. otherwise it's a solid build.
love the case. post any revisions you make please because, I'm building one this summer as well and i thought i would have to pay a lot more for a decent build then $1256.88 - the monitor
1. Mobo blows. Never buy a mobo with a LPT connection and a 4-pin power connection on it for gaming LOL.
2. The E8400 Wolfdale is better than any quad-core for gaming since the games wont use all four cores, #6
3. I wouldn't get the soundcard either, just get 5hv2 usbs.
4. If this is strictly for gaming and you are only going to have one Gfx card in it, I'd consider getting a shuttle barebone, it'd save you quite a bit of money and has the cable management already done for you + the handiness if you LAN.
umm the GTS G92 is actually consistently better than the GT and if someone is considering getting a new card it is easily recommended that they get a GTS G92 instead of a GT. Notice i said if he plans on overclocking he needs better ram.

tell that to the awards and many gamers and oc'ers that own it... it's one of the best mobos for oc'ing at that price

if you think 5h v2s and its garbage piece of crap known as a usb sound card is good, then u havent heard of good sound... and unless all this guy does is game, (i hope no one here only does that), then that is a terrible choice. a decent pair of headphones like hd555/ad700 with that x-fi xgamer is worlds better than ur recommended 5h vcraps w/ crap sound card
4. If this is strictly for gaming and you are only going to have one Gfx card in it, I'd consider getting a shuttle barebone, it'd save you quite a bit of money and has the cable management already done for you + the handiness if you LAN.
shuttles arent cheap and i think the guy wants to stay within his budget esp. if he gets a new monitor, the one u posted was almost $250...

get an 8800gt and a widescreen monitor because fullscreen is... well outdated now ;)
The above changes bring the price down to $1191.88 After current Rebates
#11 Thanks for the rebuttal's towards all the outspoken posters who don't know their HDD from their CPU. Would you please Suggest a Revision towards the Ram?

i'm running an e6300 450 x 7 with the ram @ ddr2-900 2.0v
i wouldn't get the G92 GTS though, it's hardly an upgrade over the GT and not really worth the extra price.
