Well I think it has to do with eye strain, and the fact that LCD monitors generally don't cause this problem running at 60hz, the way most CRT's would have. That as to why they aren't pushing higher refresh rates at the moment...
from what ive read 100hz COMPUTER monitors are definately a possibility and may come out at the end of this year. There are already 120hz 1080p HDTV's out.
Officially the biggest Lupe Fiasco fan and biggest Lil Wayne hater on gotfrag.
Much of the discussion of refresh rate does not apply to the liquid crystal portion of an LCD monitor. This is because while a CRT monitor uses the same mechanism for both illumination and imaging, LCDs employ a separate backlight to illuminate the image being portrayed by the LCD's liquid crystal shutters. The shutters themselves do not have a "refresh rate" as such due to the fact that they always stay at whatever opacity they were last instructed to continuously, and do not become more or less transparent until instructed to produce a different opacity.
The closest thing liquid crystal shutters have to a refresh rate is their response time, while nearly all LCD backlights (most notably fluorescent cathodes, which commonly operate at ~200Hz) have a separate figure known as flicker, which describes how many times a second the backlight pulses on and off.

A LCD monitor is still running on a far more different technology. I will never say that the LDC monitor is suitable for gaming, because of it's technology - although the 100hz.
I going to stick to my CRT until the SED or FED monitors are making revolutionary process on the monitor-market.
refresh rate doesn't matter for lcd's. the only real problem with lcd's is how bad resolutions lower than the native look. if they fixed that, i'd be all over lcd's.
75 hz on an lcd looks the same as 100 hz on a crt, provided you have vsync off on both monitors. you still get the same amount of tearing.
they don't run at 100hz because LCD's response time isn't fast enough. they label their typical response time much lower than full screen response time. majority of LCD monitors with the exception of maybe the viewsonics can't even handle a true 60hz, portions of the picture are lost and just blended in with the last picture.
samsung has a 120hz TV out, but it gets 120hz by putting a black screen in between each refresh, doubling the refresh rate. it looks a lot smoother since the pure black refreshes your eye's, but it's not a true 60hz, it just looks smoother.
I have been using a LCD monitor for a couple years now. I have a 21" CRT in the garage. Im gonna hook it up tonight and see if I notice anything worth noting.
Yes that is Correct next year there releasing computer monitors that are lcd and go up to 120 hz there I know samsung is working on the technology right now so im sure they will be the first to release it to the public.
only reason I could see anyone buying a CRT is the price
when 100hz LCD monitors come out you kids won't have enough money because you just spent $200 on a 'gaming' keyboard, gaming gloves and MOUSE SKATES (ROFLROFL) so it doesn't matter anyway
LCD with 100hz
they dont have knowledge or this isnt interest for them???
if they made one... prolly they will solve many problems and help many people

i find it ironic that you used the word "ironical".
a third grader could understand this logic.
u r a big newb... dont post bullsh*t plz
fps is everything in cs 1.6, play with 50 fps than play with 100 fps that u will notice SOOOOO many things
and btw we are talking about heartz from a monitor and not the fps
I mean its 100 heartz or 75 heartz..... -.-------------------------------
