PCI slot issue

I have this odd problem where I try to install a TV Tuner card in my one of my PCI slots and when I turn it on for the first time, I can hear everything running but the monitor power light just blinks. Also , when the computer correctly boots, I'll hear all the fans really loud for a couple of seconds, then they'll go quiet when the pre-bios screens first show up. After I boot with the card in there, the fans just continue being at full noise level and nothing ever comes on the screen. I've tried all 3 PCI slots and they all give the same result.

And yes, I'm putting the card in the right way -_-.

Also, I have a wireless NIC card to test with, and that card works fine in the PCI slots. So it has to be something with the TV Tuner card right? But even if it was faulty, I didn't think that would be the result.

Any help is appreciated.

How many watts is your power supply? Your problem may be with your power supply. If you don't have sufficient power to run all of your hardware the computer may not boot up properly. Check the requirements on the TV Tuner and how many watts your power supply has.

Very strange. Try resetting your BIOS to defaults, but I doubt there will be a setting related to PCI ports that is going to help you there, but it's worth a shot. Have a read through your BIOS optins as well for anything obvious in there.

Could well be a faulty TV tuner. Best thing to do, is try the same tuner in a freinds computer or any other machine you can get hold of. Chances are that if you get a sucessful POST with the same tuner in another machine, then you have a tuner issue.

I am assuming that the tuner is taking all its power from the PCI port here. Tuners don't need any power realy, so I would be very suprised if it had an auxilary power socket.

Hope these suggestions get you started on the right track.
