well lets see...

established company that is a go-to source for audiophiles and provides equipment for many of the world's best known bands (the who and such) vs a mousepad company that just decided to start making headsets a few years ago and used HeatoN as their sponsor.

sennheiser shts on anything steelseries will ever make

Some companies stick stricktly to sound products...

you put sennheiser and bose in the same sentence? i wouldnt wipe my ass with a bose product. infact i would consider bose at about the same level as steelseries, ridiculously overpriced - cheaply made, 90% marketing 10% research in the actual product.

"go-to source for audiophiles" LOL

#1 that would have been a good price if this didnt exist

Makes no difference how much you spend on earphones IF you have notched hearing losses.
What might help folks with hammered eardrums is an equalizer.
Before spending a bundle, give yourself a hearing test to see if you're missing a frequency or more.
You can find a few audiometers by Googling "software hearing test".

If you only do this thing I would go for the 5H v2. It's the coolest gaming headset. Look at all the pros - they are using it.

#10, isn't the Everglide S-500 a decent headset? I mean it doesn't compare to the Sennheiser HD555's, but it's better than all the other companies that sell mouse pads eh?

There is NO competition between Sennheiser and Steelseries.

Sennheiser is sooooooooooooo [o's times 9000 (WUT 9000?)] much better than Steelseries. I bought the HD280Pro's and just used my mic from my old Icemats. The sound quality and the bass in my HD280Pro's makes me wish I never bought my Icemats (other than the mic :D )

#4 I love everything about this post.

#12 Has never owned a Bose product.

Bose is damn overpriced and shamelessly targets the more-money-than-sense consumer demographic, no disagreement there, but their products are NEVER cheaply made (and don't mention the old Triports and their propensity for the headband to break, that was just a design blunder for which Bose was quick gave out new headphones to anyone who bothered to call them about it) and they put a sh*t-ton of research into all of their products, believe it or not.

Anyone who actually knows a thing or two about home entertainment solutions knows that Bose, despite being overpriced and targeted at richy-rich kids, has a reputation for doing a lot of unique and innovative things with their audio technology, and that reputation is deserved.

I agree that overall, Sennheiser > Bose, but you putting Bose on the same level as Steelseries is nonetheless extremely ignorant of you.

#1 But anyway, Audio-Technica > all. Whether it's an open or closed can design, that's the brand you should get, #1. Unlike a lot of people who zealously post on the internet about their favorite audio solution (and spit venom at everything else) and yet have only ever owned one or at most two different brands of headphones, I've tried multiple audiophile-class products from Sennheiser, Sony, Bose, Beyerdynamic, and Audio-Technica, and I can say with confidence that all things considered, Audio-Technica stands head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.
