Hi there. I suppose I'm a MEDIUM sensitivity player.My sensitivity is sth between 2.7 - 3.2. Resolution : 800x600 I play CS, as a riffleman and an AWM'er also.
I want to buy a mousepad that my mouse can clearly scan every pixcel on it (Accuracy - less friction),and No jagged surface, because it wastes the mouse skatez very often.(so I'm having to chance my sensitivity)
What mousepad would you advice ? Now the choices in my mind are : Everglide DKT TITAN Steelpad QCK+ Steelpad QCK Heavy
It doesn't really matter that much, in the end. After all, all of the three are very good mousepads.
However, the only difference between the QcK+ and QcK Heavy is the thickness, so why would you need to pick between the two of them? That is, they are practically the same pad, just that Heavy has three times the thickness, which in turn does not affect the glide in any way or form.
As for the Titan. I don't see why would you choose the DKT edition. There is nothing special about it, compared to the regular Titan, other than it having the DKT logo. However, I believe a theory was once said that the Fnatic Edition had a slightly different weave in comparison to the other versions. And at the same time, it was also concluded that the Razer Mantis Speed has the least friction of all the FiberTek mousepads other than obviously Mantis Control. And the FiberTek mousepads include the Mantis and the Titan families, from Razer and Everglide, respectively.
And no, I wouldn't say that your sensitivity is midsense, more like high sense.
All the advices are welcome, including sepc2 :) My windows sens is 3/11. I guess it is balanced now. The reason I observe the DKT is, so many of my friend are telling that, it has a cloth surface (Won't be wasting my skates) and it offers less friction then most of other cloth mousepads.
#5: As I already said, there is no proof whatsoever that the DKT edition would differ from the regular Titans in any way. Therefore, I don't see why would you buy the DKT edition, specially if you're not a fan of DKT himself.
Just out of interest, what mouse are you using and at what DPI?
#7: Then, in theory, can you offer an explanation as to why it is that way?
After all, the surface area is the same size, the fabric is the same and the rubber is the same. The only difference is the quantity of the rubber. Which, by the way, has zero effect on the glide.
Therefore, the pads are practically speaking the same.
Care to disprove me? If you do, present your evidence that says I'm wrong. If you refuse to do so, then I can conclude that your claims are all baseless and therefore your point is moot. So, get to it already.
I don't have any kind of scientific evidence to back my ass up, and I don't mind.
All that the user cares about is that how the pad feels. And as I've tested pretty much every mainstream pad there is and having extensive knowledge about them, I can say that QcK+ and QcK Heavy don't feel the same. Heavy feels smoother and softer.
Here's a quote from a mousepad test (which I'm quite sure you've read before) made by a somewhat known ET player Feuersturm:
"As you might imagine, the bottom of a mousepad, especially with cloth ones, serves almost like a suspension in a car, making the ride smoother."
#10: Of course, the rubber surface is going to back as a softener of sorts. But the effect of it should equal to none or very little.
As you can see, this feuersturm makes some rather strange claims in his article. For example, the following about the Everglide Titan:
QUOTE: See, the Titan is one of the slowest new cloth pads made, by default, without breaking it in for two months. Again, tests performed with both mouseskatez and hyperglides demonstrated that there was basically no or very little difference in what (replacement) feet you might use. Titan is just slow because the "2nd generation Fibretek-woven surface with minimal traction" is!
As you can see, it goes directly against the common opinion that the Titan is one of the few cloth pads with very little friction.
Also, note the following about the QcK+:
QUOTE:The QcK+ lasted a good 2-3 weeks before losing all the magnificient glide and most importantly consistency it so treacherously accustomed me to, making this one a bitter disappointment.
So basically, he is saying that the QcK degrades to a pile of crap after about four weeks? And I thought the general opinion, even here, was that the QcK lasted at least a couple of months.
Therefore, I think we can at least doubt whatever this person says.
I would get the Qck+; they have a great surface, last a long time (depending on how much you play), and they're cheap, so replacing them is not a problem.
#12: In that case, your sensitivity is indeed more in the high department than the middle department.
Personally, I'm running Razer Krait, 1600dpi@3/11 with 2.32 in-game. Have to say it was quite hard adapting to 2.45 or even 2.4 after playing at 2.15 for a while. In the end, I concluded that 210 degrees over the whole pad is a bit too little, so I went back to 240.
#13: Indeed, the surface on the QcK is good. I'm still liking mine and I bought my QcK, a regular one, on October last year. Though I have to say, the surface has gotten quite worn out in all the time.
In my opinion, the QcK+ and Heavy are too excessive in size. That, however, is only my personal opinion, which is partially forced on me by the design of my desk. You see, I have a double drawer right below my mousepad, which means I cannot maneuver that much. The extra 12cm of the QcK+ or Heavy would be left pretty much unused since they would force my arm into a 45 degree angle. Plus it would be a pain in the butt to clean.

You're so wrong. They might feel the same when you drag your finger on the surface, but when you play, they feel totally different.
After all, the surface area is the same size, the fabric is the same and the rubber is the same. The only difference is the quantity of the rubber. Which, by the way, has zero effect on the glide.

1600 Dpi , 3/11 winsens , 2.8 ingame sens.
