QUOTE:i'm in love with my steelseries neckband. it's quite sexy. (i think anyways..)
Well, some people buy things because they look sexy and others buy things because they offer the best performance. I'm guessing you buy things for looks. The original poster is asking for a pair of headphones that perform well, so please refrain from suggesting crap products.
I bought the Steelseries Siberia Neckband. Its so frekin uncomfortable that they suck. So i returned them and my senn hd555s are on the way. Right now I'm using borrowing a pair of steelseries 5h v2, there all right, but alot better than my previous Logitech Internet Chat.
#5, i don't think i would still be using these headphones if they were a pos.
compared to the pc150 and 160's as well as the icemats, i believe the neckband is quite superior in performance and sound quality; in my opinion of course.
the only downfall is they hurt you ears after awhile, but i still believe they are a great pair.
add 700 if you have a big head ...if you have a little head and you are not ashamed to look like a total FREAK I'd say go with any sennheiser more than 60 years working in audio domain
I have a pair of plantronics which were not that expensive, they go around your ear so u can hear ingame more then outside noises, my brother has icemats and i prefer mine over his and i can deffinately hear more with mine
i had a pair of the better plantronic headsets and when i switched to the Sennheiser HD280 pro i couldnt believe my ears at how much of an improvement it was.
then I put my new headphones through a burn-in process using pink noise playing on them loud for about 48 hours on and off and they got even better sounding.
if you have alot of noise in your room like an air conditioner or fans making loud noise, get some HD280 PRO sennheisers because they are very good and block out alot of unwanted noise in the backround.
if you have a quiet room then go for the HD555's open ear style headphones.
If you want something inexpensive but high quality, I'd suggest going for the Plantronics DSP-500 or 550. I own the DSP-500's personally, and only paid 25 USD for them. They come with a built in sound card too, so you have the same sound at LAN parties(if your not using your own computer). Check ebay, I'm sure you can get them under 50 dollars easily.
Best Headphone NOW
Does it work on any sound card? (integrated or Not integrated)
I have this headphone now, would there be a great diff in the sound, like being able to pinpoint ppls locations using sound?

Funny how the music headphones blow away the gaming headphones, positionals, bass, sound fidelity, comfort.
I just recently got a pair of PC350 to get rid of the 5H i had in my neck as a microphone.
Stay away from Icemat/Steelsound !
