They are the same version but one is open and one is closed. Also there is a diff in Impedance and Frequency Response. Was wondering what is diff in SOUND between these two, which one is better?

Open headphones are usually considered to have slightly better sound. But because they're open, you sacrifice isolation. Also might help keep your ears a bit cooler.

#3 has it

Depends on the environment in which they'll be used. If fairly quiet, go with the AD(the ones I have), or if it's a bit noisy then go with the A

I'm also getting ready to buy some 700's. Have yet to decide on closed or open from plenty of forum reviews. Do the closed have a single strap across the top? And they seem smaller, though it could just be the single picture I've seen of them. But being a college student (roommates) and getting ready to start going to lans, I'm leaning towards the closed version.

Well
The opens literally sound as if theres a napkin over your ear (blocking the noise) so take that into consideration.

closed version might put more stress on the ear right?

I had skull candy before and it was heavy and stressfull but excellent sound. LOL it is like putting a subwoofer in ur ear

If mainly for gaming, I don't think it will matter if it's open or closed unless you're LANNING or if your mom's constantly nagging you, then you will need closed headphones.

For music, I would go with the open headphone though. I've read that music sounds better with open headphones. I really don't know.

I own ATH-500(closed) and my head gets sweaty after a bit of CS. I can hear everything in these with the highs turned up. Music sounds pretty decent, I guess. I don't listen to a lot of music though.

#7 Ear stress has more to do with poor ergonomic design of the headphones, than whether or not they're open or closed.

And so in that case, you don't have to worry about that with Audio-Technica. Their cans are ultra comfortable. The most discomfort you might get from closed AT headphones is your ear getting a bit sweaty after wearing them for a few hours straight. That's pretty much it.

edit: unless you have like abnormally large ears or something, then I guess you might have a problem

I like open more if gaming for positional audio open seems better. They sound more natural closed ones tend to be more bassy.

i have open, and i don't have a problem with background noise in lans etc. if your volume is decently high, then you won't hear anything around you..

YA, go with the open ones. That's what I would do.
