I'm using onboard sound, should I buy a soundcard? Would there be a big difference? I don't want to spend too much, is this good? ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as..
Also, anyone know if newegg still has free shipping on orders over 500?
a soundcard gives you "surround simulation" with Dolby Headphone (Xonar) or CMSS-3D (X-Fi) which can work very well and you will get better sound-quality than most onboard-sounds, with a decent headphone/headset it imho helps
You'll definitely notice the difference if you listen to music alot as well. You get sharper sound with a deeper low end. You should definitely get good headphones/speakers too.
And no, newegg doesnt have free shipping on 500+ orders.
IMO, it's a big improvement in sound and position.. but you need a good headset and soundcard. To me (being cheap), I don't actually think it's worth $75+, but if you have the money, go for it.
Oh, and no free shipping on $500+
