I went from hard to cloth and have never even thought of going back. The surface never really wears down on a cloth mat, and they are nice, soft and dont get as cold to the touch as say a razer exactmat for example, so they last forever. And theyre usually made with a lot more space to move your mouse around than most hard mats, which is good if you have a low sensitivity. In terms of performance I don't believe the qck+ and heavy are different besides thickness of the pad. Go with what you can afford and I'm sure you'll end up satisfied either way/
i have the QcK (not heavy) and its a great pad, except it can make your wrist a bit uncomfortable after a while since its so thin. Id definitley recommend the QcK Heavy as it seems the best solution.
Hard mat (ie. SteelSeries S&S): Pros + Extremely accurate + No friction, meaning less effort to move the mouse Cons - Rough to the wrist, not so comfortable - Wears down the glides quickly - Gets worn down faster itself, compared to a cloth mat - Noisy
Cloth mat (ie. SteelSeries QcK Heavy): Pros + Comfortable to use for the hand/wrist. + Very accurate (not as much as the S&S though) + Lasts long + Takes forever to wear down glides Cons - Gets dirty easily - More friction
I use a Qpad UC right now (nearly same surface as the QcK), since I don't play that much anymore, and prefere a more comfortable mat to use, while browsing the net or the likes. If I were still playing daily on a high level, I would use the S&S.
doesnt matter, ss and qck are both awsome! Btw, how does the ss feel? Sliperry and smooth or scrappy like the destructor? I'm debating between the 2 too~
Compared to the Destructor, S&S is smoother. But it isn't completely smooth (like the SteelSeries SX) so it offers some control too. But still it worns down your teflon skates pretty fast.
I dont mind if its abrasive, but i dont want a sandpaper for goodness sake, the destructor is a sand paper =/ Its like writing on a blackboard with chalk... sigh Any reccomendations?
man, grab any huge cloth pad and you'll be straight. consumerism always leads to many brands, just grab one up. sure, the stitching may be tighter on a qck+ than on a supermat, but are you that picky? i'm not, I use whatever huge mousepad the last lan gave me for attending. i have one under my monitor so it doesn't scratch my table, same with my keyboard, and i use one for my mouse. I also use one as a huge coaster so i can stack up like 8 beers before I have to start tossing them. cloth is awesome, and when they are free, they are even more awesome. but when it comes to brands, just grab any damn pad.
oh yeah, and if you shake or have anxiety, hard sucks. hard is cool if you have that much control over your hands, but personally, I do not. In fact, most people don't, hence the popular low sensitivities and big pads. You only have more control if you aren't super precise.
Wait for Goliathus! Since it's all black you can be sure your mouse won't skip in any way! I mean that won't happen on Mantis Speed kindly, but it's better to be safe than sorry *lol*

Again, mantis speed and qck, which has less friction?
