Right now I own an icemat siberia running on an onboard sound module. I think both are dying on me. What are some suggestions of what I should get? Let's try to make this less than $200
Ya go with Westmn's suggestion. I am also planning on buying the 700's in a month due to the reviews I read. If you do not buy the 700's buy the hd 555. Both are roughly the same price, but you will get what you paid for out of these headsets.
compared to the x-fi series the sound positioning is terrible, i mean it had sound positioning but it was more like which direction (left, right, behind) instead of a location of the source (which is what you want in games). im still using the sound card in another computer and it works fine for my speakers but i wouldn't use it for my headset if i had the choice.

Anyways, AD-700's + some cheapo creative one (like an Audigy).
AD-700 = 100ish (e-mazing)
Audigy = 25~30
get xi-fi sound card + ath-ad 700
$150 in total
