Is Verizon FiOS still amazing like it used to be? I remember when it first came out people were almost pinging LAN pings to VA when they lived in VA and getting incredible pings everywhere else.
have had constant 10 - 60+ choke in every server.. have had this problem for almost a year..
if anything get at&t yahoo dsl..
fios runs on a neighborhood line so many people are using it at once, with at&t, you have your own line so the only disturbance you get is from youself.. (a friend from lvl3 communications told me this)
brother has it, its damn good
as for fios, screw that crap. (for gaming anyways)
#6, i was told the line is shared with the neighborhood numerous times by several verizon reps.. i'm not sure, maybe all of about 25 times ive called to get it fixed.
so maybe they're just retarded?
i can't even get them to come out to boost my connection.. that's what fixed my problem last time..
they just stare at whatever they are looking at online and check my connection from their, but whatever that is they are using is an epic fail.
i just remember back in the day when it was PWNAGE people getting nasty pings. i thought it may have gotten worse due to the fact that more people got it.
I have it and got it about 4 months ago..I love it.
I have the 20 Mb upload and Download package...and the modem i was given automatically puts out wireless so i can use wifi on my laptop right out the gate..
i'm in PA and when i ping to an ATL server, i ping better than people in Miami.
its the best internet i've ever had...
I had Comcast and Optimum Online before this, and this rapes by far
O and i have the TV, its great as well...can't wait to get my HDTV hooked up soon.
Yea ive had mine for close to a year and its simply amazing. Great speeds and im on wireless. I have the whole package, Phone, Internet and TV. Their TV service is sweet.
And to the guy who said you share the network, you don't. Everyone has their own line with their own bandwidth.
no, thats the point of having fios OVER cable, fios is your OWN line, not shared by others, while cable is usually neighborhood shared, the more ppl on it, the laggier it gets.
i live in northern NJ, i ping 0-7 in NY servers, 15-20 in VA, 20ish CHI, 30ish georgia, 45ish in texas, 70+ish in cali.
its nice, BUT it DOESNT mean every shot registers still, i honestly think i reg better in CHI/VA then in NY lol
i wish they had it here florida has literally the WORST routing but they don't have it in my city X_X so instead i use comcast in a neighborhood which to say the least is awful i get an added 20 ping to every server out there except texas
it all depends on the routing of the ISP. Do a tracert to the servers you use and see how many retarded hops it takes to get to your designated server.
Oh yea had FIOS for almost 2 years now, I can't think of one time its ever been off, gone out, or even lagged. There is no other ISP i've ever had thats ever even come close.
IIRC Valve f_cked with the netcode through steam about a year ago and anything set over 100 will f_ck it up. Also I think 25000 rate is only supposed to be used on LAN.
i bought comcast and it's the shit i get 16 mb down/6mb up on wireless, and i ordered the 12mb package =D luckily NO BODY on my street has comcast, all of em with AT&T :p
#17 dang, I have fios and live in north jersey too but I ping 15-20 in NY, 35-45 in chicago, 25-30 in VA, 60ish in dallas. what's your speed? mine is 54 mbps.
kr_- you must have a problem with your line then because i have had fios for 2 years now, absolutely flawless connection, i have the lowest i think 10mb connection, i live in north jersey, i ping 1-8 in new york servers, 10-15 to va servers, 15-20 to chicago servers.
i read that the reason they made fios was so that it was NOT shared, because cable is a neighborhood connection, so som1 using tons of bandwidth would slow other people's connections. so im pretty sure fios is not a shared connection.
#7 i wouldn't trust anything a lvl.1 rep would say. i've had a lvl 1 rep say "pocket loss" instead of packet loss, multiple times. i didn't take the person seriously after that.
FiOS still good?
and yes it owns
so maybe they're just retarded?

whoever's gettin choke, get on verizon.net/optimizer
it'll probably fix ur problems....if not something might be up with ur network card.
and whoever told u that u share a line with ur neighborhood is lying, u get a line straight to their office.
And to the guy who said you share the network, you don't. Everyone has their own line with their own bandwidth.
Of course it will go up a little bit, but probably answers your question :0
screw you verizon reps. :/
get like 30-40 in good chicagos .
torrents are also very spEEdy~

any idea on how this can be fixed? besides switching isp of course
should i call them and see if they changed my routing around the time i started getting choke?
i'm at a loss, it was perfect for many months, but has been crap for the past 1.5 years.
rate 25000
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101
ex_interp 0.01
used the exact same rates before my fios went to sh*t
idk what else i should try.
theres also that "optimizer" link someone posted but I don't have fios (COME TO NORCAL U BAST@RDS) so I can't tell ya if it works.
I had line problems on my cable and they fixed it after I called them up and asked them about it.
>_>
i'm sad.
it makes the connection much more balanced and u get sick pings...trust me...
i moved to ATL from PA and now i have Comcasts 50 mbps plan..and i only get 5 mbps upload....
i miss my 20/20 speed every day =(
rate 20000
cl_updaterate 100
fps_max 100
cl_cmdrate 100
ex_interp 0.01

#42 mine is 100 mbps
and why do u need 50mb or 100mb internet speed for yourself..? o_o
i get 16mb download from comcast and i can only ping 12-25 in NYC servers. n i live in CT o_o
