Okay.. So, I guess I'm pretty lazy, or down right indecisive. I don't have the slightest idea of how to match up computer parts for performance, but clearly a lot of you do. So, I have a task for you all. Build a computer for under 1,000$ that can run the most recent of games exceptionally, while still abhorring to the laws of cost efficiency.
You could call this a social experiment, maybe even a competition, but I'm just lazy. So, suggest a build, piece by piece, or don't. :D
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard $139.99
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8500 - Retail $189.99
Total: 969.92 (newegg)
i guess you could get a cheaper case but that one has alot of fans and you can overclock very nicely + that case is actually really cheap in my eyes for what you get for it.
id strongly recommend you get that mobo because its really good for its price and will last you a long time (asus makes best mobo's imo) + its intel chipset and alot of people have trouble with heat/bugs with nvidia chipsets (anyway your getting an ati card with this board so no need for an nvidia chipset)
i chose ati (although i prefer nvidia) because currently its the best performance money ratio by alot and in that sense it rocks nvidia at the moment
why i didnt ch00se quad core like q6600 for 20 more dollars? because as everyone knows dual core is alot better for gaming and if you want to get a quad core better than this e8500 for gaming then it would be alot more expensive
take into account im not really good at this and there are probably people who have built a sh1tload of computers and will know alot better..hopefully their suggestions will be alot like mine and can be the basis for upcoming posts
but id go with a 4850 over the 4870. ocz stealthxstream 600w over the gamexstream 600w. gigabyte p35-ds3l/r or p45-ds3l/r over the p5q. finally an e8400 over e8500 with a sunbeam core contact freezer or a af7 pro. those choices could possibly bring that build down $100.
You!
