hi, i just recently put together a new computer. I found when i play any game my fps will be great for a bit, then every few few minute's my fps will drop down to about 10-20 for a few sec's and then jump back up to over 100.
SPECS:
Motherboard: ASUS AM2+ M2N-VM DVI CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ GFX Card: ASUS EN8600GT RAM: 1 2gig stick HARD DRIVE: 160 western digital
Its definitely heat. I have the M2N-SLI and X2 6400+ it runs pretty hot...but get a heatsink and it will be fixed. Temps will be high 50's early 60's normally.
#1, i currently have the same issue and found that using ad-aware to wipe out any malicious software helps alot, and setting hl.exe's affinity to one core helped it very much
fps drop HELP PLZ!!!!
