Short background story: Bought computer in 2006, asus nforce ultra4 w/ amd opteron 165. Installed everything with xp pro w/ service pack 2, everything is cool and dandy.
Reformat early 2008 on an xp home w/ no service packs, and it only sees 1 gb ram.
Just reformatted again yesterday on xp sp3, and still only 1 gb ram. I'm pretty sure it didn't die or anything, how can I fix this?
Cliff notes: xp sp3 only sees 1gb of my 2gb ram, how do i fix this?
#1 your mobo's slots are probably damaged either that or hasn't recognized the RAM, but #2 is correct, windows xp only recognizes 3gb of ram, and i'm living proof for that
idk if you guys didn't read it or what, but it went from working fine, to not working. unless you recently dropped your computer from very high, nothing would "unseat" a stick. i would still move them, or try the other dual channel slots.
xp pro recognizes 1/2 my ram

When was the last time you updated your bios?
IIRC, 32-bit XP has a physical limit of 4GB ram, but it will ->ONLY<- ever use 3GB.
Could be an issue with your mobo, though ASUS are pretty solid so I don't see how that could be an issue.
