It is a great mouse,no doupt. Those who say it is not,i believe they just haven't really spented enough time getting used to it and getting the "hand" of(on) it.
But the real question comes up after a long research i've done.
Which is actually better between those two?
We have Ikari Laser which has immense percision and as SS sais "It is suitable for FPS gamers"
On the other hand,we got Ikari Optical which has immense power too,but SS sais "It is designed just for FPS gamers"
After all this, you can see that, even the SS website, gives more love at Ikari Laser.Much more love..Them and everything else on the Web.
You can also spot that most of the people and great teams do use (say they use at least) Ikari Laser on CS.Why?
Shouldn't they use Optical?Isn't it suppose to be better? Are the rumors about Ikari Laser that it has the "best laser pointer" true, but it has problems with its reability (Neggative Acceleration, whatever it is) true?
Whats your personal opinion?I'm hopping on based opinions, not answers like "Ikari sucks, cause i say so".
I'm on to you guys, your opinion will count on what i'll buy. Thanks :D
I posted this already onto CS section,i wanna see your point of view too ;)
They give much more love to the Laser because of the fact that it costs more. They want to sell the more expensive product. From what I've heard, the Laser is great on that particular mouse and it doesn't skip. It may be wise to invest in one to be honest, but I haven't had the opportunity, personally, to try either of them out.
#1 the ikari laser is better than the optical. not necessarily because the ikari laser is a great mouse, but due to the following issues with the optical ikari: - ikari optical has a somewhat high liftoff distance - ikari optical has negative acceleration - ikari optical has been known to cease tracking completely at times * this is mainly due to the fact that steelseries decided to go with a strong light source, much stronger than was needed.
as far as the ikari laser goes its a decent mouse in every aspect, all it comes down to is if youre comfortable with the shape.
* o and btw, no "pro" fps gamers use either the laser/optical ikari. the only one I know that HAS used the ikari laser was Kapio from mousesports for one tournament, afterwhich he switched back to imo 1.1 ss.
As an owner of Ikari laser, I can tell you that it is a decent mouse. I never have any problems with it in games like wc3 and cs. Just like what #3 said, it really comes down to if you're gonna be comfortable with the shape or not.
i used to use a 1.1 and i was very picky about getting a new mouse, but the ikari laser works great for me. I did a almost side by side comparison switching after every death between my 1.1 and ikari laser. They both felt that same aiming wise. The ikari optical is no good because of the high lift, the material on top of it is slippery, and it has negative accel. The ikari laser has no correction and doesn't skip for me, it might skip however for a low sens cs player. All in all i think its a better mice than most out there, and its definently the best laser mouse out.
Laser has negative acceleration at very high speeds. With an Ulti-Mat Breathe I could hit the malfunction speed when playing Quake and turning around really fast, but with a Qck Heavy I don't unless I really try. So the neg. accel. is not a problem for me, but might be for an ultra low sens player.
hmm, thank you all for your support.I have now ordered a Laser Ikari.I don't understand what is happening, since some people say the optical has Neg-Acc and some other people say the laser has.
Well i'm playing CS 1.6 at high speed, around Spawn's speed (a cs competitive player).I hope laser will be a nice pick anyway.I'll be using it with my S&X SteelSeries pad,the company sais it is one of the best for laser mice.So i just hope everything turns out well.
#3 is right the ikari optical is terrible as for the laser version is great. Don't know why I sold my laser one for the optical. Oh well I use ie 3.0. Don't get ikari optical.
I have both ikari laser and optical.. people like to throw around bullshit.
Ikari laser has negative accel and you'll likely hit it at 30cm/360 +
When I was testing these mouses I was using 45cm/360, the Ikari optical did not have negative accel at these speeds nor when i purposely went back and forth across my fatpad.
The shape requires palm/claw grim and even claw is hard to work with.
The liftoff distance is high, but at low sensitivities liftoff distance is negligable.
walle uses ikari optical as far as I know, no idea about anyone else since I never tried looking :)
in conclusion, optical > laser as always, stop buying them
so many mixed criticism about the Ikari. Its definitely a mouse i wanna try. All I wanna know is, does the shape feel similar enough for a player whose only used a G5 and MX518; and which sensor is more realiable. I want a mouse that can handle both low and high sensitivity! cause i use both for different games!
I got my Ikari Optical yesterday. The lift-off distance was quite noticeable for me and can be annoying at times. The sensor does track very well though. The buttons next to where your thumb is placed ruined the mouse for me. I couldn't grip it correctly either for some reason. My hand "sits" on the mouse very comfortably but when it comes to gripping it and making those important shots, I couldn't find a way. If anyone needs more in-depth feedback you can PM me and I'd be glad to tell you what I know before I send it back.
Not to be a dick. And I completely understand the desire to have new peripherals. It's fun. And they look nice and it's always cool to be a gamer gear head.
But if you're having dreams of becoming a professional gamer.
Find one mouse and stick to it.
Specs don't help. How comfortable you are with it is all that matters.
#29 Yea, specs don't matter, but if you can't move your mouse 180 without it skipping, then obviously specs count.
It's not a matter of "wanting to become a professional gamer," rather than trying to find a more personalized mouse. I have tried every mouse on the market, and I wouldn't have come to the conclusion of my favorite mouse.
Why do people buy anything if what they have satisfies them, because they want to. As long as new mice keep coming out, people will keep buying them in hope to find a better mouse.
u say SK|walle use ikaris mouse :S..... it is a joke right?? all SK|players use microsoft mouse (see the galleries of any tournaments) walle, Robban, allen & zet use IE 3.0; tenptole use wheel mouse optical
PD. ikaris laser is decent mouse, but not the best.
My Optical just stopped working after two weeks as well. Thank god I had their horrible Laser mouse laying around and I swapped out the cords to get it working again. Biggest POS ever.
The Optical version dies and the Laser version can't track any better than a standard Dell optical mouse from high school.

Thanks again.
Have fun with your new gear! :)
my Ikari Laser worked fine on the SX but I didn't like the pad
oh, I thought SX is smooth ? Why didn't you like it ?
because it's very smooth, much too less friction for me ;)

I am waiting for a new QCK to confirm if it is the mouse or pad, but the Laser version can't handle my speed...

They all use SteelSeries' remade IntelliMouse versions. 1.1a and 3.0
Zet from SK-Gaming uses the Ikari Optical though. Link to info: http://www.sk-gaming.com/member/zet
*Edit* Gosh, I'm a fan boy, aren't I?! lol
