PureTrak vs Goliathus

PureTrak Talent http://www.puretrak.com/products/talent
or
Goliathus Speed http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..

Compare plz don't just say the name of one, thanks.

Has anyone used both? I currently have the mantis control but from what I hear it's actually easier to control your mouse on the "speed" versions since there is more friction. I've tried the qck+ and that seemed to go from good friction to very very little, so I returned it.

The puretrak pad looks a lot like this mousepad which I've had forever and LOVE (very nice amount of friction but smooth enough to let you make tiny movements easily) it's just too small though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..

Then here's a bigger one by the same company with great reviews but it looks different so I never bought it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..

I prefer the Puretrak, just updated from Stealth to Talent. Goliathus has too less friction for me, the Talent gives me more control but is still very smooth.
Nevertheless the Goliathus Speed is a very good cloth pad.

Just because you don't need extra mouse feet with cloth pads. No other reason (for me).

the puretrak talent is the best cloth pad i ever used. i switched from qck heavy and you can feel the difference from the first moment. i use it with deathadder. anyway, the goliathus is getting good review so i want to try it out, but for now puretrak talent is the best for me and probably it would stay that way

Yeah #4 I've been interested in hard pads but once I heard the pad wears down significantly faster then cloth and they wear down your mouse feet that just seems like a major hassle I really don't want to deal with.

Anyone know where you could find the puretrak talent cheaper then on their website?

Razer’s latest entry into the crowded mouse mat field comes with the Goliathus series, a set of multi-sized pads that come in two textures: The Goliathus Speed and Goliathus Control.

The Speed and Control naming conventions for the Goliathus mirror the naming conventions for another line of Razer accessories: The Mantis mouse mats. GGL reviewed them back in 2006.

Goliathus Speed Edition overhead shot
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3155/29430..

Named after the Goliath beetle, the mouse mats can’t lift 300 times their weight or fly, but alas, there are a finite number of snakes in the world to name your products after. To find out if the Goliathus is on par with its precessors, Razer sent GGL two Goliathusα mats (the largest of three types).

The Goliathusα measures up at 444mm x 355mm x 4.3mm, identical to the size of the Mantis, which is in turn slightly larger than an Allsop XL pad. The smaller Goliathus pads, the Goliathus and GoliathusΩ, measure in at 355mm X 254mm X 4mm and 270mm x 215mm x 4mm, respectively.

Most importantly, however, is the weave of the fabric on the Speed and Control versions of the mouse mat. The Speed Edition features a tightly woven fabric that is (allegedly) supposed to enhance the speed of your mouse across its surface. The Control Edition features a pitted fabric weave that is (again, allegedly) supposed to add friction to your mouse feet.

Just like in 2006, I have to question the naming of these mouse mats. The Speed Edition, which is nice and smooth, has a very fine-textured weave that is always in contact with a large area of your mouse feet. The Control Edition, which is pitted, naturally doesn’t touch as much of your mouse feet.

The end result? The Speed Edition results in more friction on your mouse, and contrary to its name, slower mouse movement. The Control Edition, meanwhile, touches your mouse less, and so your mouse moves faster.

The Goliathus naming convention can still be rationalized in a roundabout way by saying that if you use a high mouse sensitivity, the Speed Edition is right for you, and vice versa for the Control Edition. This doesn’t change the fact that the product names are misleading, at best.

Despite the semantics, in my informal, subjective testing (which consisted of shooting immature Call of Duty 4 players in the face and owning Slasher in Quake 3 1v1), I much preferred the Speed Edition.

I’m a medium sensitivity gamer who appreciates a little bit more resistance on the mouse pad so things don’t get out of hand in the heat of battle. Also, the Control Edition feels a little bit like extra-extra coarse sandpaper on my hands–not exactly the type of thing I want to touch. The Goliathus Speed Edition’s smoother surface gave me more fine-tuned control when it came to hitting those pixel-perfect shots that FPS games demand these days.

That’s just me. If you use a low sensitivity or are used to less friction on the mouse, the Control Edition may be your path to glory, though I must say, there are better low-friction mouse mats out there in the wild.

Overall, I can highly recommend the Goliathus Speed Edition (the largest size sells for $24.99), and I’d give a pass to the Control Edition. Razer really hit it out of the park with the Speed Edition but should have left the Control Edition on the drawing board–once again, in my opinion.
some review I found from ggl.

What about #10
[pound]MaximilianKohler for lessons sk-gaming.com/videos/member/MaximilianKohler

the talent isn't like a sheet of ice.... if thats what you think by people saying it's smoother than the qck. it's really the most natural movement you can find. i think people say it's smoother because it's more flush with their wrist movement...... atleast it's that way for me

go with the talent. especially with everything you said u want in a mousepad, you'll really like.

with ordering, i think most of the peeps here got their pad from the puretrak site including myself. esea just started offering of but i know with puretrak their shipping is supppppper fast... 2 days or less plus if you're in any popular channels on irc you'll be able to find a discount code for like 15%.... i've seen them as high as 30% tho in some channels. just gotta look/ask people whove ordered before with them..... im sure some1 here has one

honestly try the talent, its only been out for like 4 months and people are raving about it.... im sure u will to.
it's all about the benjamins

I used the Razer Mantis for about a year, and since our organization got sponsored by PureTrak, I was sent a Talent pad. Its bigger than my Mantis, and I think it feels great. I never had a QCK+ or Goliathus, so I can't help out there. But if you are looking for a durable and great mousepad, from my personal opinion for what its worth, you should get the PureTrak. I'm willing to compare the two if you want to send me one lol.

Anyways hf :)

#20 mantis control or mantis speed?

Could you be more specific as well about what you like more about the PT pad? Thanks.

#19 I think only #3 has used both pads and he said the goliathus speed was the one more like butter, and the PT has more traction.

I don't have a dkt pad but I saw this on their website

"The Everglide DKT Mat is great for high sensitivity players as its smooth surface provides a small amount friction for the high sensitivity gamer.”"

I'm personally currently a high sensitivity user @ 400dpi 6/11 3.5 ingame, and the last thing I want is "a small amount friction". I want the pad with the most traction without it ruining my mouse feet and wearing out the pad quickly like hard pads do. In other words the cloth pad with the most amount of friction/traction, as long as it still allows you to make very small movements - which unless the pad is sticky shouldn't be a problem.

#21 then u def have to go with to goliathus control its the pad with THE MOST friction on the market today (buy it from esea shop they have the version with the splash razr logo)

Obviously #23 didn't read #11
Also, the splash logos are for noobs... the majority of mice track best on same colored surfaces, usually either pure dark or pure light colored.

I have the Razer mantis control pad which from what I hear is pretty much the same as the goliathus control pad except for the color. And I had to rough mine up with a metal pot scrubber to get it to have any traction at all...

My mantis control pad is actually very rough and textured when you touch it with your fingers when it's brand new. That doesn't mean it has more traction though to your mouse, in fact it's the opposite. So if you're touching your goliathus speed or PT pad and it feels really smooth that doesn't mean your mouse is going to be slippery on it...

BTW I've also used low sensitivity for a while @ 2.1 to 2.7 and even with that the last thing I'd want is a pad with low traction... so I really have no idea why they are making these low traction pads...

Hey look at that! It's #25! Another person who didn't bother reading the thread before they posted... I think you need to read at least #11

"so that the low sensi and the friction doesnt stop them from aiming"

You're funny. FYI low sensitivity users move their whole forearm laterally and need a good deal of friction in order to help them stop their mouse instantly. Otherwise it would be very hard to make a quick and accurate movement. The less friction there is on the pad the lower you'll have to set your sensitivity, because it will be harder to control your mouse.

honestly from what it sounds like the talent pad is your best bet. u really cant go wrong with it

#14,15 is an idiot and clearly doesn't own or have a talent pad otherwise he wouldnt claim its like ice cuz its not. flammer.

in the past 5 months i've been through 4 pads including the ones youve listed and i just got the talent pad 2 weeks ago and for once i think I finally found a pad that ill keep using for atleast a year. from the sound of it, your as picky about your movement as i am.

neway, i still have a discount code my friend gave me which might still work... it's for like 30% or 35% off, pm me if you want it. i dont want it getting spammd on here if it's still good lol

but in other words, listen to #26... hes got it lol

I don't think it's good logic anyways to buy a different mouse pad in order to see what the mousepad you actually want might feel like... unless you live in germany and you visit a store to test that pad.

#33 yea 15usd shipping #35 this mousepad ( http://www.sharkoon.com/html/produkte/ein.. ) is actually widely available in my country for just 9 euros so i thought that should be the case in other european countries too, guess i was wrong :)

Anyway the pad feels really nice and comfortable, i've never been really a fan of hardpads like qpad noidpad corepadmagna and func f30r because of how weird their surface feels every time i slide my wrist over them, this pad gives enough smoothness for making small movements easy and precise without being uncontrollable at the same time, hope its glide stays that way, it really suits a small mouse like IMO 1.1a, i use IE 3.0 sometimes too depending on the mood :)

I just switched to a goliathus speed from a steelseries sx (super smooth/fast aluminum pad/had tracking issues with deathadder @ highspeed) and a everglide titanmat. I find the gol. speed quite smooth, as I couldn't get used to the everglide (it seemed to have too much friction for me to glide my mouse smoothly). I find the gol. speed to be less accurate right now than my SX but it tracks better/is bigger. I hope that I will get used to it over time, but right now I can't awp that well with it yet. My biggest problem with cloth pads is that I PERSONALLY feel I can't make fine movements, I've used low and medium sensitivity settings, but still seems like hard mousepads help me make more precise movements. The opposite of most the people posting here, go figure.
I play:
Deathadder 3/11 windows, mousefix, noforce commands, 3.6 ingame @ 800x600.

I bought the goliathus speed because I wanted fast hand movements, but it isn't thatprecise. I switched to a Razer Destructor and I must say this mouse pad is great Speed+Control.

i like my goliathus, never tried the puretrak though. one of the things you might be bothered by is that the goliathus has little humps.. crumbs, dust, you know, little things can get stuck in it, but all you gotta do is put your pad upside down and hit it. its a minor issue so yah.
