well dude :) at maxed settings..kinda doubt...well u can go for a HD 4850 GFXcard..around 130$..its awesome..if u have more cash go for HD 4870[200$]...if ur going to upgrade the comp in another2-3 years...go for Intel e8400 processor[130$-160$..and a decent 100$+ motherboard..and then mainly go for a 700w power supply [60$]

if ur going with HD 4830 it still costs u 600$ buddy..500 $ is too small nowadays...but actually im buyin the same config with HD 4830 only ...as i told u 600$ + im going for a croshair 4gb ram = 50$..and a 1 TB harddisk = 100 $...so totally 750$...dude u cant build a comp withiin 500$..high hopes
what bout monitor ups and all ? xD

#3 is pretty solid. You might as well spend a bit more and get a better video card, but if your not playing anything more 'intensive' than source games not much to worry i think ;o

Indeed, doesn't get any better than that for the money.

Honestly, you're not going to be able to max out current games with less than 500. You'll come close with #3's setup, but other than that... yeah, look to spend 600-700 if you want to legitimately max out current games.

just curious, why is everyone picking the e8400 over the e8500?

#8 because the e8500 is just an e8400 with a higher default clock speed as far as I know.
