Hello I have 2 1.1's and i've been using them for a while, but I just noticed on the bottom of one it says "Intellimouse Optical 1.1A USB and PS/2 Compatible" and my other one says "Intellimouse Optical USB and PS/2 Compatible"

so my questions are.. are there any differences between the two? which is the correct version to use? and also which one is the version everyone uses

youre fine. They're both essentially the same mouse. I think the one labeled intellimouse optical usb and ps/2 compatible is just a newer 1.1. Mine says the same thing.

#3 I like the mouse a lot. I won't say its better than the mx518 because ill get flamed. But I prefer it over the mx518, even though the mx518 is also a good mouse.

Ehh it's good, but I think the two mice are different. The Regular Intellimouse Optical seems a little slower in sensitivity, and the Intellimouse optical 1.1a feels a bit faster..

Personally I think the mouse is a complete failure. I don't think it was developed for any "gaming" purposes whatsoever. It has a terribly slippery coating on it and you'll find that figuring out a comfortable grip is almost impossible. It doesn't like being overclocked very well, the scrollwheel/buttons feel cheap like on the new IE3.0. The mouse is light and not like a "good" light but a lightness that asks you if you are actually holding a mouse or perhaps a sheet of paper. I like/prefer lighter mice but the 1.1 is not your ideal weight at all. However it is 17 bucks on Newegg. I returned mine anyways.

The Intellimouse is better than the MX518.

IMHO the fact it's more rectangular makes it easier to aim precisely.

@jb-
It's true though the mousewheel and side buttons are crap, but it's worth it.
Also it ''overclocks'' nicely, no clue what you've beensmoking.

You must have sweaty palms, never had a problem with the coating, you can always decide paint it easily and put a different shiny coating.

#8 How can an obviously cheaply made mouse be better than an MX518? By the way, it doesn't overclock well. Try changing the HZ to 500 and opening mouserate checker. The frames are all over the place, dipping well below what you actually want. As for arguing the coating.. it is slippery, that's a fact lol. That's why I hated it immediately.

Also, just because a certain pro uses it doesn't mean that's reason enough for a purchase. f0rest uses a bulk version of the wheel mouse optical. -_-

a lot to do with mice is preference... technology wise the older microsoft mice are pretty low on the totem pole. i have an old imo 1.1 or somethign like that and it used to flip out on me when i'd move my mouse too fast so i had to play at like medium or high sensitivity which is why i switched to the deathadder. was a great mouse though for sure.

The wheel mouse is an extremely good mouse, only problem with it is that it doesn't have at least one side button. You obviously fell for the marketing crap about tracking/DPI. A mouse is a mouse, I don't know what you're smoking but it must be good.

Ksharp, Stevenson, Potti all use(d) WMO/IMO's.
Not that it matters, but it just makes you realize that people can use WMO/IMO's and a desktop and still rape kids with ShitSeries mousepads and Razer mice.

Hell, If it wasn't for the side-buttons on my 1.1 I'd use my WMO1.1

And yep, I've used my MX518 for 2-3 years and I still made the switch to my current 1.1 and I do not regret it, I'm actually glad I switched and my MX518 is going to the garbage.

#12 Don't be another one of "those" types of people who makes assumptions based on nothing. I understand you have a 1.1 and enjoy it. Did I say there's anything wrong with someone using it? Definitely not. Would I use it? No, but I have my reasons as do you not using your MX518 anymore.

I use 400 DPI and think the extras are pointless. I bought it because it feels confortable in my hand and the rubber grip on it is nice. I've been using logitech mice since I can remember. I use them because they work for me. However, your argument is sort of flawed because everyone is jumping on the DPI/HZ bandwagon anyways. Look at Steelseries and Razer with their Ikari and Deathadder mice for instance.

If that was the case there would be no incentive to buying a new mouse. Ever.

#13 Only valid reasons to buy a new mouse are:

1) Uncomfortable
2) Broken

And yes, a lot of kids are buying Razer and SteelShit products and then saying the older mice suck without ever having tried one for over a week.

The 1.1's definitely feel like turd during the first week. I was actually really frustrated when I received it and tried it for the first time, I liked my WMO more at the time but unfortunately, I had burnt it for recreation purposes.

IMHO, the MX518 is definitely comfortable for normal computer use, the problem with it is that it's all curvy and feels uncomfortable for gaming. (according to me)

Saying "MX518 is better because its' more expensive" is absurd, the sides and the top (logo) of mine are all worn out, pretty ugly.

But yea, It all comes down to preference. I guess my point is that you can't judge a mouse by it's looks, especially the 1.1

Just my opinion but. Yes the mouse is hard to grip if your hands are sweaty. But this is really the same problem with all mice. The mouse does feel awkward when first using it. But after playing with it for 2 - 3 days. You begin to fall in love with it. I have experimented with a lot of mice. There is something about the precision about this mouse. The sensor and the way its balanced are perfect. The lighter the mouse the better, to who ever was saying its too light. Theres no such thing as too light for a mouse. The easier it is the swipe the better. Yes there are more comfortable mice. But for gaming? I really think this one is the best. It has to do with how its balanced.

Harle,

I used my intellimouse optical 1.1 for 5 years. Think thats enough experience? The 1.1 is an absolute piece of garbage in comparison to the deathadder, in every aspect of the mouse.

You must have a low sensitivity and big hands.
Deathadder = Heavy, uncomfortable garbage.

And you can go garbage too.

#16? fanboy much. Lol. Razer is garbage. The deathadder itself is a good mouse. But NO it is not 20x more amazing than a 1.1. Please stop reading DPI and hertz numbers for your justifications of a good mouse. How can you beat a 20 dollar mouse thats been used for ages and still used by many gamers today, TOP gamers. It is a very good mouse and for the price, amazing. Also micrsoft mice don't die after 10 months :/
