Hey guys. I am a bit concerned, basically what happened was me and some other people were in discussion about mice and I mentioned that my mouse is G9. A few people said that It's a horrible mouse, they didn't exactly give the best reasons, they mainly didn't like it for the look of it and claimed it was "too complex".. I don't see how it is too complex.. 4 mouse buttons and a mousewheel basically.. the guys talking crap on my mouse were deathadder users, which seems to be pretty popular but is there really that much of a problem with logitech g9? did i make a mistake in buying one? (i bought it $110aud when it was $170 retail at the time)
People will always have different opions, if they think the g9 is ugly thats there own problem. It is a good mouse if you like the feel of it. I have one and I think its great.
Although im looking for a new mouse because the feet on my g9 are ruined.
I've used a G9 for about 6 months approximately, and i've been having some problems with mine:
* the feet when the mouse is new are perfect, but when they wear they make a scratching sound on my plastic mousepad (SteelSeries S&S). I cant help but think that its wearing my mousepad down more than another mouse would because of this. Using the G7 that i replaced with the G9 and that still glides perfectly.
To summarize, i think the feet are quite poorly made / designed
* Tracking, this is only something that i've come across in the last month or so, I am a low-sens gamer, i play cs 1.6 with a mousespeed of 1, and whenever i try to turn quickly the mouse spacks out because of how fast im moving the mouse. G7 never had any of these problems and worked like a dream
* the mouseware is a great idea, but in practicality it doesnt work half the time - although this could be issues with my OS installation (6 month old Vista 64 installation).
I like the mouse, but i'm very strongly considering going back to either a G5 or a MX518 for the sake of being able to do 180's in CS again!
in case you're wondering, the batteries in my G7 started running out way too quickly - hence the upgrade :(
#5 I had the same problem with the feet. Ive been using a soft cloth pad.... like the dollar store one haha and it works amazing I used to use a hard pad but the soft cloth just suited the mouse so much better. anyway been using it for a couple of months and the feet is still in great condition...
to the people who have problems with their mousefeet, this is normal for them to be worn down. I recommend getting some aftermarket mouse feet. some companies like everglide and hyperglide have feet pre-made for your specific mouse model.
Change the mousepad to something else - tracking will improve. Cloth is best (titan/mantis)
You never look at the mouse, you put it in your hand and use it. If you like it - its prolly the best mouse ever made for you. If someone starts talking crap he is mostly influenced by forums, tv etc...and a good chazbce he hasnt even used the mouse.
Did I make a mistake...

strange, the G9 should have a higher max. speed than the G7, maybe the G9 doesn't like your mousepad
btw. Logitech will release a new version of the G9 soon (april), the G9x, the only difference seems to be a new sensor which should perform better

Who cares if your mouse is ugly, if it is good who gives a f
