Windows 7 Audio Fix

Hello There Everyone!

I just spent 2 hours finding out why I couldn't get the default audio drivers to work with Windows 7 and my onboard Sound. Turns out Windows 7 comes with very generic sound drivers at the moment and if you are like me and have an AC97/Soundmax chip you may very well run into some problems getting your sound to work.

THE FOLLOWING DRIVERS ARE INTENDED FOR 32 & 64 BIT WINDOWS 7 BETA.

To solve this at the moment the only drivers that fix this issue with these sound chips are the following drivers:

Beta Version 6.10.1.6180
http://files.filefront.com/AD1988+VISTA+6..

If you get the problem where the only output from your audio control panel is SPDIF this may resolve the issue assuming you have SoundMAX/AC97. Otherwise check your hardware/motherboard manufacturer for updates reguarding this issue.

I have an Audigy 4 Pro and I'm finding that the volume, maxed out, is much lower than it was in XP x64.

I'm kind of in love with windows 7. All the cool gadget stuffs from vista, but running as stable as xp. me likey.

Hey ZuSu! I have Windows 7 build 7000, and I also have no audio, and we have the exact same audio device. I just can't seem to find the driver on the link you provided. I've been looking for like a day trying to find someone with Win7 and the same audio device.

For those with X-Fi cards, there's a thread on the creative forums in which a guy has optimized drivers that support all the Windows platforms, including Win7. Thus far they have worked beautifully.

I fixed my Audigy 4 Pro problems by turning off sound enhancements and some exclusive audio option that was right above it. No problems any more, Windows 7 x64 now works perfectly for me.

Any of you have an issue in which Ventrilo stops registering your push-to-talk key once you join a game?
