I just spent 2 hours finding out why I couldn't get the default audio drivers to work with Windows 7 and my onboard Sound. Turns out Windows 7 comes with very generic sound drivers at the moment and if you are like me and have an AC97/Soundmax chip you may very well run into some problems getting your sound to work.
THE FOLLOWING DRIVERS ARE INTENDED FOR 32 & 64 BIT WINDOWS 7 BETA.
To solve this at the moment the only drivers that fix this issue with these sound chips are the following drivers:
If you get the problem where the only output from your audio control panel is SPDIF this may resolve the issue assuming you have SoundMAX/AC97. Otherwise check your hardware/motherboard manufacturer for updates reguarding this issue.
Hey ZuSu! I have Windows 7 build 7000, and I also have no audio, and we have the exact same audio device. I just can't seem to find the driver on the link you provided. I've been looking for like a day trying to find someone with Win7 and the same audio device.
I just put windows 7 on my comp and dont have audio. I have tried all the vista ones from realtek but im running a x86 so i dont think i can use these drivers. Anyone know what i can use to fix my prblem
I put win7 on my pc and I like it. In the beginning I had some probs with sound (creative SB X-FI extreme gamer soundcard) but I repaired it and now I can listen to music :D
For those with X-Fi cards, there's a thread on the creative forums in which a guy has optimized drivers that support all the Windows platforms, including Win7. Thus far they have worked beautifully.
I fixed my Audigy 4 Pro problems by turning off sound enhancements and some exclusive audio option that was right above it. No problems any more, Windows 7 x64 now works perfectly for me.
