Installing STEAM on Windows 7 will most likely produce an error while it updates initially after the installation of STEAM. The error is something along the lines of "Tried to delete steam.exe but file is still there". To avoid this error and update STEAM properly you will need to REBOOT once you are asked to finish the setup for STEAM. Don't click Finish just simply reboot and it will bypass the first 30% and update past this and not produce the error.
Once the update is complete you need to reboot once more and simply launch STEAM and it will work just fine from there on!
my only complaint was my 1.6 ran like crap, but thats to be expected IMO because i was using brand new drivers for a brand new videocard (gtx 295) i didnt expect kinks to be worked out already. So far im dual booting vista and 7 and i spend more time in 7 it seems, pretty much only 1.6 i go back to vista or when i do any visual studio.
