convert youtube videos(.flv)

I found a firefox addon (flashgot) to download the videos, then learned they were .flv

I can watch these files with VLC but I can't use .flv files with vegas so what converter programs would you guys recommend?

This guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7JrpMTz2NA recommended "media coder" and "SUPER" anyone familiar with these or others?

I downloaded both of those from his links (haven't installed one yet) but not sure which one to use =|

I also heard you can use VLC media player to convert it... whatever converts it with the best quality and good file size is the one I want..

Do a google search for Internet video converter you can also extract the music from flv vidoes into mp3 format so you can have songs. Or make audio tracks and sample movies and stuff it's a pretty dope proggy you should peep it.

Also, a lot of HD videos are .mp4

How are you supposed to know what the file format is on videos being streamed?

you download them, and find out :p

by "finding out" i mean right click and hit properties, or get info for you mac users

or you could use one of numerous programs that will tell you what the info is, I can't name one off the top of my head but they exist

If you add the tag "&fmt=18" almost all videos will download in mp4 format.
