For a long time, I've had a problem with all my FPS games. The problem being the bullets/shots feeling "laggier" than normal. The bullets feel like they're shot a second later, as if i was playing on 200 ping when in actuality i was playing on LAN. All of my fps games, ranging from CS to Quake3, quakelive, warsow, the firing mechanism just felt laggy (while i tested on LAN, it's even worse when ping comes into play)
I've changed all my components in my RIG, the only thing left is my monitor. It's not a software issue either, I've tested out many times with countless drivers, reformats, OS changes, etc.
Simple question: Could a faulty monitor cause problems on your recoil/firing?
Nah, cmon I'm WAY beyond that. I've been trying to fix it for almost a year now. Thats the first thing i would look for. Not to mention, I'm 100% certain it's not software related. I mean I've changed COUNTLESS drivers, reformatted countless times, changed OS from 32 to 64bit, xp to home to vista, from ubuntu to mint to fedora.. I think it's safe to assume it's not a process/memory hog problem or any other software problem
I've also changed Every PC component as well, from the mobo to the video card, cpu, PSU, ram.
I'm wondering if a monitor can actually mess something up like this? Usually the video card is to blame because the GPU processes everything, the monitor only displays what the GPU processed. With that said, you could literally play without a monitor.
when you open things on the desktop or click links, do you see the clicking delayed from when you actually hit the mouse? if so, its your monitor, otherwise its not.
the fact that its worse between lan and online really makes me think its not, because a monitor has no idea what your ping is.
Can a monitor mess up your..

It's actually a pretty old 17' CRT

What a tricky problem.

is your mouse connected by ps/2 rather than USB?
if your mouse is usb have you tryed overclocking your mouse to a hertz to reduce latency ? (if you are not using a DA)
I appreactice your help, but like i said, IT IS NOT SOFTWARE related. I've already tried all your ideas and 99% of all "software" tricks.
Nobody stuck to the topic. The best advice is to try another monitor it seems
