Alright everyone, I have decided to use my hard earned money to buy meself a brand new gaming rig!
I have no idea on parts to get though.... that's where you guys come in.
Alright, all I know is that I prefer Intel, and probably ATI (unless someone tells me otherwise).
Not everything needs to be top of the line, but I would like a nice gfx card and processor. Also, if there is leftover cash for a nice monitor, throw that in there. But if not, I can just wait till christmas and get one + a new mouse/keyboard.
you choose - i5 or i7 build. if you pick i5 get a lga 1156 socket mobo for an i7 get a lga 1366 socket mobo. for the i7 id suggest a ASUS P6T SE. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..
it doesn't require 500w of PSU itself, the max it will ever require is 180w i believe. and that is when you're on full load, when your PC is idle it consumes 27w which is amazing. i posted a 750w PSU because it is more future proof and it will be more than enough to power your PC.
where to buy the GPU, it comes out tomorrow lol o_o 10/5/09 i believe. buy all the parts on newegg btw.
no 12gb of memory is completely unnecessary. 4gb is perfect today, 6gb is more than enough, 8+ is just over kill really. unless you're hosting a server, i wouldn't do it.
yeah #10 lol, unless you want to run Crysis five times then don't get it :p
uhm for a heatsink.. dunno just get anything thats i5 compatible, i dont really know of any good ones for the i5 so yeh just look around at reviews. thermal paste just get any lol
The total of this is $1297. Giving me about 50 dollars to work with. I'm going to get payed in a couple of days so maybe I can get a new monitor or keyboard/mouse with that.
I'd go with this mobo cuz it offers best LAN performance, even better than Gigabyte's own P55-UD6, MSI P55-GD80, Asus P7P55D Deluxe etc. I guess Asus Maximus III Formula/Gene won't perform better/faster than this one. Other than that all 1156 board should perform the same or similar at all. BIOS, so, options are basically different.
*Edit* Oh and cosidering you want a monitor as well. I'd wait for Asus' VG242H or whatever it will be called. 120-Hz-Full-HD monitor (1920x1080). There's no release date or price tag yet.
ill sell you my amd phenom ii x4 955, 8gb ddr3 1600, ATI HD4890, 1tb hd, 750gb hd, antec P180 case with a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit for 1000$ :o
all looks great except the case.. go with the Antec 900 or Antec 1200. the smilodon isn't the greatest and i'm sure you wouldn't enjoy the front since you have to keep the door open when you are using the USB ports.
I was going to get that but I looked at my mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as.. and went to specifications and went to memory standard and it said DDR3 2600+(OC)/2133(OC)/1866(OC)/1600/1333/1066, not DDR3 2000.
Build for $1300!

with some 12gb ram ddr3
a good geforce 275 would do the job.
basically go on newegg, pick the things that has the most / best reviews.
and you'll be fine.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. - Would that be a good one?
It's fairly expensive and the 4890 is like $90 cheaper...
And can someone tell my why too or not too buy a 5800 series card...
for the i7 id suggest a ASUS P6T SE. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..
i5 id suggest MSI p55m http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp..
HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [80]
PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [120]
GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [380]
case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [100]
memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [86]
HDD + PSU + GPU + CASE + RAM = $766
so you have $534 to go with a mobo + cpu. what i suggest is this
i5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [200]
mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. [120]
TOTAL = $1086 w/ out shipping and stuff. you have $213 left over, use it on something else or keep it. oh yeah you could buy 6gb of memory if you'd prefer.
And it requires 500w power supply, would that extra 250w power everything else?
Also, that guy suggested 12gb or ram, is that even necessary?
Last thing, how would this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDe.. + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp.. do?
Thanks

Also, thermal paste and a heatsink, what do you prefer for those.
Does that just mean it works faster?
uhm for a heatsink.. dunno just get anything thats i5 compatible, i dont really know of any good ones for the i5 so yeh just look around at reviews. thermal paste just get any lol

and yeah the 5870 will last you a long time :P
EDIT: Alright I added harlE's build + vista + monitor and it comes out to be like $1396, which will probably be alright.

Could this still work?
So DDR3 2000 will work, you can set it to DDR3 1600 speeds anyway.
