video ram question

i have a motherboard that uses ddr ram
does that mean if i were to upgrade my video card it would have to be ddr as well or can the video ram be ddr2

Don't take my word for it but I'm pretty sure that you could use any type of video memory and you'll be fine

It doesn't matter what kind of VRAM you have. It's different from the RAM you use in your motherboard, and only the video card utilizes it.

As far as I know there are no DDR RAMs on video cards anyway. And yes, it doesn't matter. The slot for the video card itselft is all that is important.

You could use any type of video memory. It is completely unrelated.

Since you're considering upgrading your video card and are mentioning the fact that your motherboard uses DDR ram.

What's your processor? What's your motherboard model?

If anything, you should ask whether or not your new parts will be bottleneck or even be compatible.
