Alright so when I first got my 5870 it would run tf2 at close to 300 fps and hardly dip below 250.

Now, when I loaded it up today, it got all the way down to 90 fps, and the max was around 150 fps...

Can someone help me?

overheating is usually the culprit in this case. check temps and see if getting extra fans in your case resolves the problem.

Alright well I don't think temp is a problem. I'm getting 31 degrees Celsius...

But it's dropping all the way down to 60 fps in tf2.

That's pretty weird.

Try disabling the power saving features for the CPU in the BIOS, see if it changes anything.

You can also download the AMD Gpu Tool (Latest version) and set the clocks to default (this turns off powerplay by keeping clocks at default).
GOD DA_MN it harle you just ruined it

Alright I will try that.

I don't know if this helps but I was running 3DMark Vantage and got an average of around 45 fps on the second GPU test, the one that's in outer space.

I would tell you the score but I forgot to write it down and trial accounts can only get results once.

EDIT: I also downloaded game booster but that didn't seem to help. I tried the video stress test in CS:S and I couldn't tell exactly but I know I saw a 7xx fps in there. My average was like 468. I saw a guy on YouTube that got 999. It might just be that he has a better rig (8gigs of ram, same gpu and cpu though...)

an extra two gigs of ram would not give you 200FPS lol. that guy was probably on liquid cooling at 4.0ghz+ and a highly overclocked GPU

Well I've got my GPU at 900/1290 or something. Idk I did the auto tune on the ATI Overdrive program.

Also, he has 4 extra gigs of ram, not 2
:3

one would think that overclocking may be the cause of performance issues

what psu you have and how many amps on the 12v rail?

If that's not the problem, download AMD Gpu Tool (Latest version) and set the clocks to default (This turns off powerplay by keeping clocks at default)
