Saitek makes some changes and introduces a new technology to make their latest lighted keyboard even better than their last.

Saitek has done it yet again in the keyboard world with another quality product. If you all remember correctly, the Eclipse is not the first keyboard with lighting that Saitek has produced. Back in 2004, they came out with the silver “Gamer’s Keyboard” that had a programmable command pad. While this was a lit keyboard, it merely showed the light around the keys and at night it was just a bunch of square silhouettes.

This brings us to 2005, where Saitek has once again listened to their fans and answered back. Saitek has a strong reputation for listening to their consumers and continues to do so. The Eclipse is the newest edition to their keyboard line up. A number of changes have occurred from the original design while keeping the basic essence of the original. First off, they have ditched the silver for the black which is a great move. Secondly, they got rid of the Command Pad. While the Command Pad was a great idea in concept, the fact is that most gamers are not going to make the transition from the standard keyboard. The biggest change however is the lighting method.

Saitek pioneered its own laser-etching technology to bring to life the Eclipse. The patented TrueVu method had to be used because if they allowed too much light a “bloom effect” would occur and if they let too little light through the keys, it would be overpowered by the light surrounding the keys. This was indeed a problem. However, they solved it and the results are stunning. There is a perfect balance of light pouring out from the lettering on the keys. It is now 2 AM and I continue to type on the blue glow of this amazing keyboard.
