Saitek makes some changes and introduces a new technology to make their latest lighted keyboard even better than their last. ![]() This brings us to 2005, where Saitek has once again listened to their fans and answered back. Saitek has a strong reputation for listening to their consumers and continues to do so. The Eclipse is the newest edition to their keyboard line up. A number of changes have occurred from the original design while keeping the basic essence of the original. First off, they have ditched the silver for the black which is a great move. Secondly, they got rid of the Command Pad. While the Command Pad was a great idea in concept, the fact is that most gamers are not going to make the transition from the standard keyboard. The biggest change however is the lighting method. Saitek pioneered its own laser-etching technology to bring to life the Eclipse. The patented TrueVu method had to be used because if they allowed too much light a “bloom effect” would occur and if they let too little light through the keys, it would be overpowered by the light surrounding the keys. This was indeed a problem. However, they solved it and the results are stunning. There is a perfect balance of light pouring out from the lettering on the keys. It is now 2 AM and I continue to type on the blue glow of this amazing keyboard. Page:

I don't know but I just don't see myself sliding my keyboard across my desk too much when I'm gaming. Besides, who uses the feet anyways? Anyone who does is just asking for carpal tunnel. The handrest was nice but lacked adjustability and sturdiness, often finding myself pulling it out on accident. So I threw it away and got used to not having it.
I'd like to see more keyboard reviewed compartivley. This keyboard looks to be a decent buy if you have some extra cash with nothing to blow it on. The article got me thinking about picking it up anyways, becuase I do most of my gaming in the dark. I hate any kind of glare effect. And even tiny lamps in the corner of my eyes are a distraction. I have no where to hide a lamp in my PC set up. But like I said, do a series of keyboard reviews like the headsets if possible.
good article.
kewl!?
I must say that it's nice, much quiter than my old keyboard and the keys are HARDER to press than my old one as well, so maybe it just depends on what you're used to :P
I have no problem with the feet in back because I don't typically slide my keyboard forward.
My friend has the logitech g15 keyboard, which i think is fantastic but a bit too big, if they make a version where they get rid of all those macro keys, then i'll buy it!
Also, it's relatively small. Which I love.
definately was not the computer (or it wouldn't have worked with other usb keyboards)... though it did have something to do with the fact that my walk key was caps lock and the saitek keyboard just couldn't deal with that.
id love to see a comparison between the two, or at least a review that could tell me something about the lcd on it.
anyways, this is a great keyboard, i agree exactly with the review.
thanks =)
boy was i wrong...
this keyboard sucks...
the feel to the keys is cheap and crappy. the buttons look like they will break in a few months.
but the most fustrating thing is when pressing more 3 buttons at same time, it doesnt work....for example...i am walking foward while talking on mic...this requires 3 buttons to be pushed (the "W" to walk foward, the "shift key" to walk, and "capslock" to talk) the walking foward part works just fine, but when pressing the third button...nothing happens...PIECE OF CRAAAAP.
upon further investigation i found that all the other keys work while "capslock" and "shift key" are being held down....it is just the "w","s","and "x" that do not work in conjunction with capslock and shift.
I bought a Logitech G15 and i find it a bit better, it even has a little LCD that displays cpu and RAM usage and even current song. It also has 18 programable keys with 3 modes. Yeah, the Saitek feels a bit sturdier, but i haven't had anything go wrong with the G15 so i just might feel like it, but the only thing that I don't like about the G15 is that it's a bit bulky, but it's a really good keyboard overall. So IMO both are pretty good keyboards so buy both :)
Everything with an LCD screen is better.
these three keys do not work together:
check to see if the keys ( 2, w, s, or x) work while holding "capslock" and the left "shift key"
this is what i use to walk foward and talk on the mic. (hold "w" to move foward, "shift key" to walk, and "capslock" to talk....however.....
these three keys do not work at the same time!
holding "shift" and "capslock", try pressing all of your keys to see which ones work...i have found that the row of keys (2,w,s, and x) do not work in conjunction with "shift" and "capslock"
