Aqua2 Manufacturer: X-ray Technology LTD Type of pad: Soft, single surface Material: Cloth (A2A) Size: 11” x 9” Price: $12.00 Like the X-ray Aqua3 above, the Aqua2 is another product from X-ray Technology that has been quite overshadowed by the success of its Thunder8 and Thunder9 products. The Aqua2 packaging is very simple and effective: a plain sleeve with viewing window that manages to keep the mousepad nice and flat. At first glance, the mousepad itself seems to be a slightly larger and slightly thinner version of the control mousepad. Upon closer inspection however, you can clearly see that the surface is a much higher quality fabric than the control pad. The design on this model of Aqua2 (A2A, there are 3 models total, only difference being surface design) is quite interesting. In the picture of the mousepad in it's packaging, tell me it doesn't legitimately look like a bunch of folds of blue fabric. This is a main feature of the Aqua2 mousepad, “stylish” high resolution surface design. The actual surface itself is very well crafted, very similar to the surface of the Aqua3, though not quite as glossy. All types of mice tracked very well on this mousepad, and the surface seemed to provide an ample amount of speed while maintaining a decent amount of friction, typical qualities of cloth surfaces. The construction of the Aqua2 is very solid. It is a simple cloth mouespad, all parts of high quality. While using this pad I noticed that there was hardly any of the cloth surface curling up away from the rubber bottom, which happens on most cloth pads. The bottom of this pad consists of an interlaced pattern of rubber that grips the desk very well. This pad does not move at all in comparison to the Aqua3, and I supposed that could very well be due to the fact that it is about twice as thick. The size and surface characteristics of this mousepad lead me to believe that it was designed primarily for use as a professional mousepad, and not really a gaming surface. If this mousepad was a bit larger, perhaps the size of the Aqua3, it would be a great gaming mousepad, but as is, it's a bit smaller than the standard size of cloth gaming pads. The size and surface quality are great for professional applications, and the design is “stylish” enough for the professional environment as well. Pros: +High quality cloth pad +Stylish design +Grips desk well Cons: -Not quite big enough for cloth gaming mousepad Score: 7/10 |
