The preliminary response to Core2 comes to light.
Dailytech is reporting that memos that they have acquired detail AMD's quickest response to the Intel's much-anticipated Core2 processors: a huge price cut. How quick will this response be? The very next day. Given the preliminary Core2 benchmarks showing Athlon64s getting trounced with relative ease, it seems that for a while we'll revert back to the old days of AMD being the less expensive, but less powerful alternative. The price cuts are as follows:
Athlon 64 will be cut by around 30%
Athlon 64 X2 will be cut by around 50%
Sempron will be cut by around 15%
