Category: Display Manufacturer: eMagin Product: Z800 3DVisor Gallery: Click Here Price: $549 (down from $899) Gaming, in the traditional sense, has always been carried out on large stationary monitors several feet away from the users. Sure, there are exceptions to this statement, like some of the professional gamers we always see glaring at the monitor from a distance of about 6 inches, but for the most part, video games, whether they be on the computer or on a console, one big monitor is the way to go. At Gotfrag we like to think change is good. After all, the Core 2 Duo processor that represents a dramatic change in core logic implementation from Intel received one of our best reviews on record. So, wearing a monitor on your head, provided it doesn’t weigh 40 lbs is something we believe could have potential. Enter: the Z800 3DVisor from eMagin Imagine the clunkiest sunglasses you’ve ever seen in your life, add 500 dollars worth of cutting-edge technology, and you have the Z800 3DVisor. We wouldn’t go so far as to call the actual unit itself “clunky” in any sense of the word however; the Z800 3DVisor is less than a quarter of the size of the only other HMD that was being shown at E3'06. The headset came in a plainly marked white box, which included a very comprehensive manual that includes detailed installation instructions, a CD with the product software, and a nice padded nylon “case” which carried the 3DVisor and all of its accessories. |
