FPSLabs Home: Logitech G3 Review

By: Stu Grubbs - Published August 03, 2006 at 9:57 AM EDT - Writer Archive
At $59.99, this mouse is a great value. Why? It had a solid build, 5 effective mouse buttons, ambidextrous design, DryGrip surface, excellent tracking via their Gaming-grade laser tracking technology, and superior glide factor all packaged in a sleek, black body. At this price you also receive Logitech's 3-year warranty. This product ships in late August, so I bet we will see a price drop before the holiday season.

In conclusion, this mouse offers up many of the solutions to common complaints about today's mice. They didn't skimp on the feet, the surface is coated in a DryGrip material, and it offers 5 buttons for those gamers who prefer that. Keep in mind that your results may vary as the mouse is a very personal peripheral. As to the three factors I spoke of early, this mouse performed flawlessly in all of them. Its tracking, responsiveness, and friction-less design were excellent. In fact, the tracking on the mouse never faltered on all three surfaces. At the current price, I would say this is an excellent choice for your next peripheral upgrade.

Pros

+ Nice weight
+ Excellent tracking
Nice big mouse feet made for easy gliding
+ Software drivers and SetPoint was put together well.

Cons

- Lack of ability to tell what resolution you were at quickly.

Rating
9.4 out of 10
Well, I gave this product a 9.4 for several reasons.  It is, by far, a superb product.  To be honest, I was not blown away by this mouse.  I was impressed, but not blown away.  Therefore, I couldn't give it an Excellent rating.  This is a great gaming mouse and I recommend it to any of our readers looking for a mouse.  Also, keep in mind that the mouse, in many aspects, is something that is based on personal preference and that being said, your results and happiness may vary.
