FPSLabs Home: Samsung 940BF Review

By: Christian Koebel - Published August 24, 2006 at 3:43 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The Samsung 940BF is great at typing up homework assignments, chatting with friends, and unlike a whole lot of LCDs, it is great at games. The tiny bit of ghosting you’ll ever see is almost unnoticeable. Other than that, it provides a gaming experience on par with a CRT while only having a fraction of the weight and size. It’s perfect for those of you going off to a college with limited dorm space, or those of you that are just tired of lugging around your CRT to LANs. It’s video problems are grounded in the science itself, so we can’t fault them for that. Finally, at an online price of about $230, it is just as expensive as a high-end 19” CRT. At that price, and considering what you’re getting, you can’t do much better.

Pros

+ Very bright
+ Crisp text images
+ Almost no ghosting
+ Reasonable price

Cons
- Poor video performance

Rating
9.6 out of 10

Editor's Pick - 19" LCD Gaming Monitor
