Physical Improvements Right away we can notice physical differences between the 2020 and the 1010. The new mouse has the same 5 buttons as the 1010, but it now has different mouse1 and mouse2 buttons. They are gray and rubberized (a la Razer) for better tactile feel. The finger grooves on the main buttons extend all the way to the edge of the mouse being less restrictive on how to place your fingers on the mouse. Looking at the bottom of the mouse we can see that the sensor opening is much more centered on the mouse than it was on the 1010. This avoids problems of the pointer going up and down when moving the mouse on its center axis. Also easily noticeable is the much larger Teflon feet on the new mouse than the feet of the 1010. The bottom foot is as large as the bottom foot on the Logitech G5. This results in a very smooth glide over your mouse pad. This seems to be becoming the standard in every new gaming mouse. Finally, the issue with the size of the cord seemed to be fixed, as the cord is over 6 feet long. The 2020 has a laser sensor as opposed to an optical sensor in the 1010. The laser sensor in the new mouse allows it to have 2400 cpi as compared to 2000 dpi on most other laser mice. CPI stands for Count Per Inch, while DPI stand for Dots Per Inch. Even though they are not the same term, the speed of the pointer is higher at 2400 cpi than on the other mice at 2000 dpi, so the meaning of the two values must be proportional. When I began to use the mouse I noticed that the clicking of the main buttons had been improved. It did not take as much pressure to press the main buttons as in the 1010 and they felt of much better quality with the new thick rubber material and larger finger grooves. The 3rd button under the ring finger was now harder to press and would not press accidentally. The side button seemed to remain the same, somewhat out of the way, yet the ability to hold the mouse at my preference with the new grooves on the main buttons allowed me to click the side button much easier than on the 1010. |
