It's bigger, but is it better? GotFrag answers the question in this review of the new Steelseries mousepad: the QcK Heavy. ![]() Category: Mousepads Manufacturer: SteelSeries Product: QcK Heavy Price: $29.95 Packaging Normally when people buy something, they are so excited that they just tear through the packaging, without noting the creativity and marketing schemes that companies go through. Since we, at GotFrag hardware, take every nuance into account when testing products; we do not fall prey to the "eager child on Christmas morning" syndrome like ordinary human beings. Instead, we inspected not only the QcK Heavy itself, but how it is presented in its packaging. The QcK Heavy takes a big leap forward in the packaging department. The regular QcKs all arrive rolled up in a size appropriate cardboard box. This is not the case with the Heavy. While the pad does arrive rolled up, it is presented in a plastic tube, which is encased in a cardboard. |

Its not like they're marketing a small mousepad and sending you an enormous one instead. You get exactly what you pay for.
If u buy a QcK+ you obviously want something bigger than the QcK.
size can only possibly be a pro because u can cut it up into smaller peices anyway...
i tested a long time ago
but im not a big fan of cloth pad..
so ...~~
neat desk :)
Other than that, nice review and pictures. :)
price is good for what you get.
adapting to hard surfaces? that's hardly a con for a particular mousepad but for all cloth, so according to real life this should get at least a 9/10 and you need to work on your pro/con list
Good reviews for each aspect but i assume your new so you're forgiven for the last part.
Does this mean a lineup based on the amount of friction? I have a QCK+ and im looking for a pad with a little more friction (my hand shakes, and the friction helps with this)
So if i got a DKT pad it would have more friction?
nice review anyway... my friend got one but I don't feel like buying it =/ I prefer plastic pads :D
#4 I'm sure it will last longer than the regular QcKs
#17 if you are looking for a rougher cloth pad than the QcK, I would try the DKT or supermat.
As far as the other comments about the pros and cons, I think size can be a pro and a con since some people dont want their pad to take up their entire desk, but if that's what you're looking for then it will suit you well. Cutting the pad is something that I suggested in the piece, but I know I wouldn't want to do that personally. Ok, as far as the hard to adjust to from a hard pad, I have used the DKT pad, the S&S, the 5L, and the QcK+. Some of them I would switch between often when I wasn't sure which one was best for me. Just trying to use this pad from the 5L was a tough adjustment, when that is technically a cloth pad. The pad just has a really unique feel to it.
Thanks to everyone for the good feedback. I'm glad people didn't just say "Oh this review sucked" without give some reasons.
