Overall this card is impressive. It’s a single slot solution which is nice when you see many of the higher end solutions using dual slot coolers. It has a sharp little graphic on the top of the cooler along with the ATI logo.

The Testing
We are going to test the X1950PRO head-to-head versus the very popular 7950GT KO from eVGA. We will use the following tests using both basic settings and maxed out settings:
  • Half Life 2: Episode 1
  • Counter Strike: Source
  • Oblivion
  • Battlefield 2142
  • 3DMark06 & 3DMark05
Hardware Configuration
  • Processor: E6700 Core 2 Duo
  • Motherboard: Abit Universal AW9D-MAX
  • Memory: Crucial 2GB DDR2 800
  • Power Supply: Antec NeoHE 550W
  • Hard Drive: 150GB Western Digital Raptor
Software Configuration
  • Forceware 93.71 for the 7950GT KO
  • ATI Catalyst 7.11 for the X1950Pro

These test results are achieved on a fresh Windows install with no extra programs or processes running. Each of the in-game tests are ran five times, with the high and low being thrown out to eliminate the possibility of outliers, and an average of the other three scores is taken. The 3DMark scores are the average of three tests. The Half-Life 2 based games are tested with timedemo on specific demos we have created. Oblivion and BF 2142 are tested with Fraps.
