Introduction
Logitech is one of the leading peripheral creators in the PC world and has become known for the top-notch gaming mice they produce. From the MX500 to the MX518 to the laser-based G5, Logitech is always on the cutting edge, giving us gamers something to salivate over. The competition in this market is becoming increasingly high with long-time standbys Microsoft and Razer, and other new upstarts trying to get their slice of the pie. Competition is always a plus for us gamers as we are routinely seeing new mice and revisions that are on the front lines of new technology.

And that brings us today’s mouse the Blue G5 from Logitech. While not a brand new mouse, there are significant changes that warrant us giving this mouse a review and comparing it to the previous release. Is this the ultimate mouse for your gaming needs?

The Mouse

The mouse comes in the standard Logitech packaging that is found with all of their mice. It mentions some of the key features on the back and the package includes the mouse, the Setpoint CD, the weight cartridge, weight case with weights, and an installation guide.

As the previous model of the G5 and this are similar, they share many of the same features and specifications but with a couple noticeable differences which we will note.

The ergonomics of the mouse are terrible. Take a picture of the right side of the mouse where the bump is.

Good review. If my current G5 goes dead or starts flaking, this will be the first mouse I go for.

#1 I didnt really feel it was necessary as that side of the mouse hasnt changed since this mouse came out, and I mainly wanted to highlight the new features.

I assume most people would be familiar with it by now.

i would get that mouse but i think it's ugly. they should of stuck with something more like the previous g5. something with a sleek/more simple look. is it possible for me to pop out the "face plate" of my old g5 and stick it on that one?
someone buy me a E6600 plz. thankS!

Use a knife and some sand paper to get rid of it. I did it to my 518 and G5. Now there's alot more space for the ring finger on the side and the pinky doesnt feel squished

I don't like the mousefeet. There is are two top and bottom (cool) but only one on the right (or left if you must); seems unbalanced!

I said at the time a G5 with two thumb buttons would be perfect for me, however I don't see my current G5 breaking anytime soon, so I shall have to wait :(

Btw, the top shells of the g5 are interchangeable, so if you like the old rusty color you can put it on this one

Don't really have the time to read right now. But I'm curious... does the mouse3 button work now? I could never stand how difficult it was to hit mouse3 on the G5, because of its left and right click functionality.

The base and top shell can be taken apart. Base is not interchangable, but the top shell (blue on hte new one, rusted on the old one) are completely identical

Please stop making the mice look like they are made purely for 10 year old kids who wants a spiderweb.. geezus.
You can't get any decent hardware aimed towards gaming, without it looking as though it also aimed towards pre-teens. Just awfull, just as all of razers products.

So just because you're bad, the mouse is bad aswell? Ok then

#25 cal o is certainly all that demanding. Being on the brink of CS fame maybe you should just buy whatever superstar cs player recommends...

Or you can listen to people who review and test this stuff for a living, to give you unbiased feedback. If you dont like that, surely no one is going to make you read anything else...

i really dont think that this mouse can handle 1khz steadily. it was written that DA is adjustible betweeen 125/500/1000 and there's no difference between 500/1000, it still stays about 500..
U callin me a liar?

I'm just wondering if you guys ever got an answer about the laser engine? Is it the same of the previous G5 or a revisioned one?
The mouse don't look that bad. Sorry i don't like the usuall colored lights of Razer mouses, sometime i think i will get blind when i see them.

Talking of feet friction... more the contact area ... more the friction ..(basic rules of friction) the mouse feet should have been smaller.
