GotFrag has been acquired by Major League Gaming. What does that mean for your favorite hardware site? ![]() By now it’s no secret that GotFrag has been acquired by MLG and that things are changing for the better. eSports is expanding, and the small, competitive community we once knew has become a thriving global industry. That is all well and good, but I am sure most of you here at GotFrag Hardware just want to know how it’s going to affect us. First off, you might now understand why things have slowed down around here over the past few months. With this acquisition comes quite a bit of the support that will enable us to do more and do it better. We had our own planning to be done and decisions to make about where we will be taking this site in the next year. Many of the changes we are implementing are drastic and will completely alter the site you enjoy now while maintaining the cool you always come back for. In our last “Letter from the Editor”, we promised something that never came around. That something was a brand new site. I feel embarrassed to say that we have yet to deliver on the promise. However, I can say with the utmost certainty that you can finally prepare for something new. In the next few months, we will be announcing a brand new site and a brand new name. The new site will contain all of the features we have been trying to get implemented on GotFrag Hardware for almost two years, along with several surprises. Our users will find a great deal more interaction available to them. The name of the site will be better suited to what we actually do at GotFrag Hardware, as well as take a radical departure from the way GotFrag's network sites are presented. I am very excited about these changes and I cannot wait to show them to you guys. Most importantly however, the content we produce will undergo a series of changes very soon. Sluggish doesn’t begin to describe the recent speed of publication here at GotFrag Hardware. What was once a steady heartbeat of reviews and industry news has dwindled to a soft patter. Like everything else, that is about to change. Starting today, the content will be not only more regular, but of a higher quality than previously seen. What was once a passion and a hobby we slaved over has become a passion and a job we can be proud about. This means that we won’t have to be working in the real as much as before, and, consequently, will more time to dedicate towards bringing you the facts on the latest gaming hardware. Something that has been in the media a lot recently is the blurring of the line between advertisers/sponsors and review scores. A couple of different sites around the net have published articles on the topic. The fact is, these articles and this issue shouldn't even be forced to exist. Something I want to state right now is that you have never and will never see the day that a company receives preferential treatment in our reviews because of kickbacks, advertising, or sponsorship. To the companies: We will review products that you manufacture under the strict understanding that there is to be no whiny email or threats after your review is published. We review products based on it's standalone merit - not any other affiliation, advertising agreement, or previous friendly encounters. This team will hold integrity, honesty and our community above everything else. To our community: You have that commitment from us. Every review you see on this site will be 100% unbiased and we will be quite blunt as to the conclusion on any review. I apologize for those of you who know that this is how we have always operated, but it needed to be said nonetheless. The bottom line is you are about to see a whirlwind of change in terms of how, when and where you get your gaming hardware news. However, the core of this publication, four dedicated and passionate PC gamers, will not change. We are every bit as excited as you are for this coming year, and you can expect big things out of this site and its community. Those of you that have been with GotFrag for more than two years can be proud, as you were with us before GotFrag Hardware existed and you can feel free to consider yourselves partial founders. Thomas and I couldn’t be more grateful for the fantastic members of our community who have supported us throughout our time here at GotFrag Hardware. Our mission is to bring you the best damn gaming hardware reviews and news there is, and to do so with integrity, thoroughness, and efficiency. You have that promise from us. I suggest you stick around, because this is the year we will own those noobs. Your editors, Stu “Rockstar” Grubbs aka digitalSTU Thomas “shoes” Gribble |
