The RAM
Specifications
  • Model Number: BL2KIT12864AL1065
  • Type: 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
  • Capacity: 2GB (2 x 1GB)
  • Speed: DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
  • Timings: 5-5-5-15
  • Max Voltage per Warranty: 2.2V

Besides the speed difference between the 1066MHz and the 1000MHz there is another key difference: LEDs! Yes, I know I personally have never been a big fan of LED’s but these are inside your machine and you don’t really notice them unless your case is open. Check the pictures down below to see them in action. The lights blink multiple colors and patterns during various activities and booting. This is a sharp feature for those interested in lighting.

The RAM features a black heat spreader outlined by a chrome finish. The PCB that RAM chips are mounted on is also black. There are some model and serial number markings on stickers on each side of the RAM.

Overall these Ballistix Tracer modules from Crucial look fantastic. You see a lot of RAM sticks these days with exotic colors and crazy designs that do not serve much purpose. Crucial keeps its sharp and simple, and these sticks look great on the black EVGA nForce 680i motherboard we are about to test with.
