The next iteration of the PCMark series arrive this Thursday in Vista-only form.
Via Fudzilla: "The highly expected Vista PCMark dubbed Vantage should be available on October 18th. At least thats what the promotional site says. The PCMark is less popular then the 3DMark, but it is still widely used as the most common benchmark for a computer's performance in general. Called Vantage, the new version will work only on Vista. The system requirements for the new Vantage are listed on the Futuremark website.

Processor
  • Modern processor with SSE2 support Modern processor with support SSE2
  • Intel Pentium 4 at 3.0GHz or equivalent AMD processor
  • Multi-core processors recommended
Graphics Card Graphics Card
  • Shader Model 2.0 compliant graphics card.
  • Shader Model 3.0 compliant graphics card for the GPU image manipulation test
  • 256MB of graphics memory for the GPU gaming test recommended
Hard Disk
  • 1.7GB of hard disk space
  •  NTFS File System
System Memory
  • 1024MB
Operating System
  • Microsoft Windows Vista® Ultimate / Home Premium / Home Basic / Enterprise / Business
Other
  • Windows Media Player 11
  • Latest DirectX Update for Windows Vista
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7"

At this point any score you receive with the software probably qualifies as useless not because its a synthetic benchmark, but because Windows Vista is being patched constantly with performance fixes. Either way expect Vantage to become the standard at FPSLabs for synthetic testing once Windows Vista has taken the pole position away from Windows XP. You can bet that won't happen for a very long time unless Microsoft speeds things up and gets its act together.

What will it take for you to migrate to Vista?
Stable and fast drivers for all my components.
One badass DirectX 10 game that is mindblowing.
Once I see 12 year old Jenny down the block with it on her laptop.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1
I pirate Vista.
Already have it legally!
