FPSLabs Home: E For All - Intro

FPSLabs is live from E For All in Los Angeles, California.

E3 holds a pretty special place in our hearts at FPSLabs. It was the first major trade show we attended, was a very humbling experience, and bore witness to a marvelous night of karaoke by all GotFrag staff in attendance. However, the undeniably excessive glitz and glamour of E3 eventually led to the show’s virtual demise. Upon the realization of the major E3 exhibitors that the amount of money poured in to the event produced totally unimpressive sales revenue, it was called off. The show has now been relegated to Santa Monica, a 15 minute drive from its prior venue, the enormous Los Angeles Convention Center, and made an invite-only press event (which blows, because they didn’t invite us) (note: We’re not 100% on the details of E3 being downsized, but that’s a pretty good explanation right there). News came shortly after the announcement that E3 was closing its doors that a new event would be taking its place. E For All, a show put on by IDG, was to attract a lot of the major E3 regulars (Nintendo, EA, Intel), just on a slightly smaller scale.

Well, we are sitting in the press room at E For All right now, and we can tell you rather definitively that it is no E3 replacement. Whereas simple floor space was hard to come by at E3, we have an entire side of a humongous room at our disposal here. The show floor itself is entirely within the South Hall, whereas E3 sprawled across the entirety of the three main halls of the LACC, including all the walkways. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of interesting stuff on display at the show, and that is why we are here. We hope to bring you lots of pictures and a fair amount of content throughout the weekend. Keep it locked.
