Today marks the start of something new. As of December 1st, FPSLabs.com will become a separate entity from GotFrag. When we started GotFrag Hardware in October of 2005, we put quite a lot on the line. We took what was basically just two somewhat knowledgeable hardware enthusiasts and in two years have created a self-sufficient website that publishes a wealth of unique content. Instead of being just another hardware review site, we have become the only hardware review site for gamers. We have also built a fairly impressive readership that surpasses that of many major print magazines. The relationships we have forged with hardware manufacturers are thriving and, above all, our community is becoming more active by the day. FPSLabs, the strategic and functional rebranding of GotFrag Hardware, went live on (appropriately) the 4th of July. With its introduction came promises of new features, new content, and a new look. Four months later we have only been able to provide a fraction of what we set out to do. GotFrag and FPSLabs eventually came to the realization that FPSLabs would be more capable of its desired growth outside of the GotFrag Network. While our audiences are and will continue to be one in the same, the way we reach out to the community and provide them with information is vastly different. It was time for a change. Decisions were made, and here we are. The independent (beta) FPSLabs will have most of the features we have been promising for ages and even more are in development. The fundamental difference of being independent is that the means by which to add those features on a whim strongly resides in our new home. For more details of this launch, we urge you to find our article entitled "Welcome to FPSLabs V2" over at the new site. Frames Per Second. It is why so many hardware sites exist. It’s why we spend so much of our hard earned money, and it’s why we spend countless hours tweaking every last setting in our computers. As competitive gamers, we always strive to be the best. Unfortunately for us, sometimes skill and teamwork alone are not enough to reach the top level. Having a computer that allows you to play the games you play without any kind of “lag” or stutter often provides that extra boost that allows you to truly be competitive, and it is FPS that we use to quantify that boost. These are the words we published when we launched the new initiative under the flag of FPSLabs. We have, are, and continue to follow through on these words every day. This site and staff are built upon the community and we recognize more than most that without you we would be nothing. We can't thank you enough for your continued support, emails and messages rooting us on. We both feel, Stu and Thomas, that this is the best move for FPSLabs and will bring about an explosion of growth. We invite to join us in this third year of FPSLabs at our new home and site. Come check out FPSLabs V2. To everyone at GotFrag who has allowed us to grow under their wing for more than two years now, we extend the most sincere of thanks. To Jason Bass, Trevor Schmidt, Lee Chen, Jason Coene, and everyone else who has helped and joined us along the way, without your help and vision we would be nowhere. To the GotFrag staff who has supported us in immeasurable ways and helped us prosper, we are eternally grateful. To the community, the reason we do what we do, thank you for being our inspiration. We hope you all will join us at the new FPSLabs.com. Sincerely, Stu Grubbs and Thomas Gribble |
