SCRIMS

Stay for 24 rounds!

Use scrims for solid practice. Don't look at the total score. Look at if you're winning pistol rounds, and how many rifle rounds you're winning each half (as in 2 of 9 or 8 of 9). If you're only winning 2-3 rifle rounds in a half, that's your "low hanging fruit".

GHOSTING

Certainly ghosting can make a difference in online play. Still, while this can be a factor, I get tired of playing with or against people who whine about it. US LANs are the only place in the world, for the most part, where ghosting is illegal. It's allowed in most other foreign LAN competitions, and it's allowed in every online league. So crying about it won't help you.

Adapt. If you know a team is ghosting you, they get to follow you for 4 seconds before being forced into a 1st person view. So maybe you should pretend to run the other way, or continue the direction you are going. zEx didn't come back from their European LAN experience crying about ghosting. They adapted. (Fade to Black doesn't fix this, btw. Try it.)

I figure whining about it is like whining about aluminum bats in college baseball. They are legal and have been legal. You can argue that wooden bats are more pure, and that since you can only use wooden bats in the pros, that's what you should use in college. But if you show up to a college game with wooden bats and miss a few home runs that get caught on the warning track, who is at fault?

I'm not trying to convince you to ghost. In fact, I think it creates crappy teamwork, since you can compensate for a stupid move, like pushing alone as CT and running into the entire T team. Developing teamwork takes actual effort, and a lot of ethugs can't handle it, and just get by with something that is close, but falls apart under real pressure. Ghost coaching can have a short term benefit, but it often confuses someone living, and prevents them from developing their creativity.

Teams that ghost almost always have crappy strats.

OUR SERVER

Our server is a Texas GD. I can't tell you the number of times someone has come on and said "wow, this server is a POS!" They claim they are lagging, choking, etc. Meanwhile, no one on our team has any problems at all. And we've got team members in NY, OH, FL, OK, MO, and TX. Through some amazing miracle, we'll have 5 different ISPs and connections and be fine, while some whiny ethug can't believe that he could possibly be killed. It's not the server, it's you.
